I am very impressed.

Chicago Storm
As for the chase yesterday... I ended up making to Muscatine, IA by mid afternoon, where I sat for a while. Storms developed to my west across East/Central Iowa during the late afternoon. I ended up heading northwest to make a play on what was the northern supercell at the time. I ended up sitting on the north side of Tipton, IA watching the cell as it pushed eastward. It had interesting structure at times, but didn't have enough to produce. All of the pictures below are from this storm. After this I decided to head southeast into W. Illinois to position myself ahead of the southern cells/line. I ended up sitting in Geneseo, IL along I-80 as the storm moved it. The storm featured winds of 40-50mph and hail up to penny size. I then jumped back on I-80 headed east where I encountered hail up to nickel size for most of the 50 mile drive from Geneseo to Ladd, IL. Blinding rainfall made it impossible to see any farther than the front end of your car over most of that drive too.

Here's a few more pics from yesterday. The storms were only about a half hour old in the first few pics. These things exploded about as fast as you will ever see. Nothing on the radar to severe in 3-4 scans. EDIT: I love how when you attach images they go in whatever order they want instead of the order you upload them in. These pics aren't in the order I wanted them, but oh well lol.

I am very impressed. I thought it was going to be a really large outbreak but it was somewhat of a small tornado outbreak with tons of wind reports. Like over 500. I haven't seen this kind of wind energy downtown since 4/16/98 and the tornado. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhpWN9vQwho Those gusts just looking at the traffic lights/poles were easily over 75mph. I think we will see a lot more adjustments in reports as we go along, I can imagine with how busy the offices were today that there will be fine tuning.
