Unless the front speeds up a lot, I think we will top 80 on Sunday and have a shot to match or exceed the 81 we had a couple days ago. I could see mid 80's if everything were to break right but obviously not gonna predict that this far out. Saturday could also be fairly warm if the clouds clear out.

I was looking through the threads over at Eastern and found this gem from Feb 2007. Back when cromartie/tropical loved winter. And yes "wx" was one of his usernames.

 I remember those days. He seemed to make the abrupt shift from snow weenie to warmista right when the snowy winter parade took hold of the midwest in 2007-08.

Yuck. Going to have to crank up the AC if that happens.

Too warm for my liking as well but just calling it like I see it. Mixing looks decent and we'll probably have anywhere from 16C to 18C at 850 mb. We're gonna bake as long as we get anything even slightly slower than the 12z GFS. Airport record high for the 10th is 83 and the WL coop record is 86.

There were more snow showers earlier today. There could be some more snow later tonight too. This is after two inches of snow on Sunday. The snow just doesn't want to stop this year.lol Something else intersting is that there is still ice cover on Saginaw Bay. Ice cover on April 5th is actually quite unusual. Usually if it lasts until late March, it's a miracle.

I ran through a 10 minute burst of snow while in FTW today. Was a pleasant surprise. Just think, it will be in the 70's on Saturday and 80 on Sunday.

Yeah I was quite surprised to see flurries on my way to work, especially with the car thermometer reading 42 degrees.

Hopefully, the coming warmth is nothing like last April. The first seven days of April 2010 had highs of 83, 87, 84, 70, 79, 87 and 81 at YNG. All but the high of 70 on the 4th are records. By comparison, YNG has yet to get above 68 this spring -- although the NWS is forecasting 75 on Sunday.

Disagree. Strong SW winds will cause minor downsloping at the lakefront locales. See this here every spring.

One reason why Midway gets warmer than ORD on strong SW wind events.

I'm not an expert on Chicago's topography but I don't think there's anything to downslope in northeast Illinois.
