River Card
Was checking the 3 main indicies today and looks like we might be in for a sustained period of below normal temps the back half of the month possibly well into May. The NAO/AO are looking to tank and the PNA is going into positive territory. I had a feeling that this would be the spring to bring snow north of I-80 in May as far south as metro Chicago so we shall see. Also is the SOI index still rising? Last week it jumped from 19 to 20.6 I think and wasn't sure if the la nina was regenrizing...hot summer? or if it might have been kelvin activity that affected it short term. Would like to tinker with a summer forecast, but as of now might stick with a 2007ish kinda summer cast. Thanks for any help.
River Card
The AO/NAO aren't tanking. Looks like a bland zonal pattern. Thanks, really trying to learn from all of you, so depite the trend into negative territory, doesn't always mean tank. So a zonal period would suggest a progressive wetter pattern? BowMeHunter
another perfect +13 early spring day with generally light winds although it was pretty dam chilly on the way to the lake but it warmed up fast.. Looks like the euro says we're gonna pay for these nice days for awhile.. hopefully its wrong but even if its not by the time the misery of today's Euro run is over we will be on the last stretch to May so that is decent. I don't mind spring but it would be sweet if we could just fast forward to June after about april 15th and skip the ton of cooler by the lake days. 6 more months until leaf peeping season and looking for the first signs of a winter storms on the models. Hopefully the Brewers can make summer fly by unlike last seasons ass stank season from them and momma nature.
Thundersnow12
I found this image pretty cool for saturday morning, showing 850mb temps and the warmest air directly over northern IL and the 850mb low (>6 degrees C) with the CAA going all the way to the south with temps down there getting below freezing at 850mb. wisconsinwx
Delightful weather out there this morning! Mid-30s, windy, light rain/drizzle, my favorite April weather lol! If it's going to be this cold, it might as well be 5 degrees cooler so it can snow, b/c a cold rain does nothing for me!
TheWeatherPimp
Next week is looking like a big severe weather week across the Plains and Midwest.

BowMeHunter
If you move to indiana or illinois you might get your warmish week. expecting lots of 40's here and maybe we can sneak in to the 50's for about 5% of the next 8 days unless things change for the better. cyclone77
Leaves are coming out on the trees pretty good around here now. Grass is green and growing pretty quickly. The cold temps over the next few days should stunt that though. Gonna be a cold/rainy day tomorrow with howling east winds.
hm8
That has to be a error. No way that kind of heat can make it that far north substained for that long. It would even be record just for one day. Yup. Back to reality now.
River Card
NAO downstream looks like it is gonna drop like a rock....and this time unlike the last drop the AO appears to be heading negative...hmmm May flakes?

Thats how I am with the Tigers. Once snow season ceases, Tigers begin, and they play until leaf peeping time and the next snow season is on the doorstep! Too this pic in Detroit 4-13-11. Maples and fence line brush are starting to green up. The Norway Maples on my street have been loving this cool sunny pattern. Greened up very fast. Another couple of weeks and we will have small leaves.

cyclone77
Pretty miserable day here today. Strong easterly winds all day and a very cold rain. Spent most of the day in the mid 40s. Picked up just under a half inch so far. Heavier rains rotation up from the south should hit us in the next few hours.
Indystorm
Gloomy here in Michiana as well with intermittent rain and gusts from the east over 40 mph. But look at what may happen Tuesday in this time sensitive image.

hawkeye_wx
As the deformation precip is beginning to pull away this morning the rain has changed to snow. It was coming down pretty good for a few minutes, but the best precip has moved off to the east. It appears one more decent band will move through shortly.
