This line of storms just went over my head in the last 10-15 minutes.. had the camera ready and everything since it was a nice looking mini bow moving at some really high speeds. Had a major downpour but not much wind, which was surprising. Must not have tapped down to the surface here.

with the way the synoptic fronts are lined up (given the mini cold air dam in eastern and central pa attm), i'm not sure how much will mix down where. what's your elevation there? maybe the hilltops and areas like cresson mountain, bald eagle and tussey mountains and up by sky top and such will see higher gusts than in the bottom of the valleys.

you think this line coming thru central PA attm will be the one that yanks out the cold air pool in the valley locations in the east and puts eastern PA into a quick warm sector alignment until the cold front smashes through and occludes the whole system? and if so, how far off does this system occlude before it jumps the coast, i-86, I-80, i-78, or the turnpike?

Just a hair over 1200'. Yea, the Allegheny front is about 5 miles to my west.. so they're good at robbing me of things like severe weather and lake effect snow haha. I would wager there were some good wind gusts up there. The mountain just to the east that sets the other side of the valley (Brush/Bald Eagle Mountain) and then Tussey further east also gets over 2k feet.. so they could see good gusts. It also had been cloudy all afternoon and there was a heavy shower that moved thru around 4pm, keepin temps around 60. Usually that type of weather east of the Allegheny front will keep winds from tapping down out of storms that move through.

You should've seen the contrast of temps/conditions across the state back on March 23rd when that EF-2 ripped up Greensburg, PA (east of Pittsburgh). 70º+ out there with CAPE's up over 2000 and 75 miles or so to the east in Altoona and State College had clouds and mid-upper 30s all day. And then up in north-central PA they were dealing with snow. One of the crazier setups i've seen in this area.

Yeah there wasn't anything too impressive here in State College. Couple gusts around 30-35mph and brief heavy rain.

being from northeast pa originally, i believe it. the appalachians in pa aren't as tall as mountains in most places. but they're just enough to drive you nuts as a forecaster. it's the home of the screw job when it comes to forecasting.

I would say the warm sector is probably going to reside at/south of the turnpike in general, perhaps maybe sneaking up to I-78 ahead of the front. Hagerstown, York, Lancaster, and Philly are still in the 70s currently.. with Harrisburg/Lancaster more in the 60-65 range. However one thing i've noticed is that the dewpoints are quite low..mainly in the low 40s. Could have a gusty thunderstorm or two fire up ahead of the main area of rain/thunderstorms in the far south.. but doesn't look like anything that's going to be overly major.

Some snow mixing in here just WNW of State College. 37°

Yeah, it was coming down pretty good back in Port Matilda, just got into work now (had to take dog to vet, all good, just a checkup).

BTW, our dog LOVES the vet. Weird.

But anyhow, this is why each spring I just assume we have a chance of seeing at least flakes here up until late April. I know a lot up here are focused on spring, but that's very true anywhere from JST to UNV on north.

Been seeing primarily snow showers or mostly snow with rain mixed in around these parts today. Not surprisingly, the usual suspects in the Laurels got it on the ground.. again.

Johnstown (RT 219 and Galleria Dr.)

I walked to a meeting across campus in a nasty stinging sleet/snow mix driven by a gusty wind.

People around here are getting antsy about the weather.

The time stamp on that says it is from last Thursday.

Oh wow nice catch, thanks haha. Post fixed with another roadcam, which is working. There are several on PennDOT's webcam PDA list that apparently stopped streaming on that date. I use that particular link because I can't d/l an image file to post off 511PA. The 511PA site is fine though..weird.

Yeah, a bunch of my friends keep asking me when it's finally going to get warm and stay warm. I'd kill for last year's first two weeks of April!

lol.....still snowed to cover the ground there, however.

BTW, we had a snow shower about five minutes ago, and the flakes were rather fluffy. Must be really cold aloft.

Yep.

I also want to get in my garden and plant minutina, tatsoi, sugar snap peas, corn salad, etc., but from what I am seeing on long range models I might as well plant rice.

Interesting to watch the nam and Euro and to some extent the GFS wrt p-types for later this week. Look at the 0z nam for Thursday night-Friday morning.

nam_pcp_072m.gif

North and east of Snow Shoe looks rather snowy, with much of this falling at night and early morning. Pottercountywx - here comes another one in front of a warmup.

I would've killed to see this pattern like 2 months ago.

Isn't it crazy to see these lows coming across with cold highs to the north? We've actually had a decent amount of snow over the last 2 weeks, especially on the hilltops.

2010 it's not!
