And that is the last ingredient for a NEPA snowstorm. :thumbsup:

I remember last year when we got the major snowstorm at the end of Feb...WNEP called for 4-6" the day before...we got 12"+, Poconos 24"

then the next morning after a widespread 18" storm they'll say "we got A LITTLE more than we thought". they hate snow so much it absoluely affects their forecasts. I'll never forget the storm back in '96 that came right after the big blizzard. the morning of that storm while it was snowing at the rate of 1" per hour with a couple inches on the ground already and a radar image that screamed "second blizzaerd of the week" they were still only saying an inch or 2" total. we ended up with 18".

OMG I remember that it was so funny. It was my senior year at Danville and we got out early. My buddy and I are sitting at my parents house with 6 + inches on the ground and still snowing like crazy and they would come on and say it is almost done snowing and we only picked up at most 2 inches, radar was solid precip! another 10-12 inches later they say oh some areas got a little more than we were calling for....

I'll never forget that morning. my wife left for work around 7am when it just started snowing. by 10am It was obvious this was going to be another blizzard. I called her and told her she needed to leave work NOW if she wanted to make it homre. good she did, some of the people she worked with that stayed all day got stranded trying to get home. I just hope I live to see another week like that. 24" plus from the big blizzard and then another 18" a few days later from this storm. that was soooo awesome.:snowman:

Didn't you see this ? February 2010....Feb 5-6 22" then February 9-10 18 more inches

I do know what you mean though. I remember this like it was yesterday. That Friday after the blizzard, i went to work and it had just started snowing. we really hadn't overcome all the snow from the blizzard (plus we had structure damage to our shop we were repairing) i told my boss he should start sending people home, they laughed at me. By noon they were in full panic mode.

Amen, brother. Let's go O's!

Meh, what a lousy day for baseball. I'm going to the Phils-Astros game on Saturday night. I'll be dressed like I normally do when I go to Beaver Stadium for November games.

Just read a weather related baseball fact. Last season there wasn't 1 single rain or snow out for more then 2 1/2 weeks, which was the longest a season had gone without a postponement in 25 years.....

By this time last year i was in shorts and was working on my tan

Only someone like the Elias baseball guys would come up with something like that, but yeah, that's kind of neat.

Best baseball-weather memory was O's opening day in 2003 against the Indians. My wife and I were sitting down the left field line. It was a cool (40's) partly cloudy type of day. Don't recall any mention of precip in the forecast for Baltimore that day before we left for the game. Well, at some point in maybe the 3rd or 4th inning, it started to snow. "Hey, this is kind of cool" type of deals. It got REAL dark, and the snow picked up. The wind started howling. The snow intensity continued to increase. Pretty soon, it was difficult to make out the stands down the right field line. The light towers on the roof were swaying. People were going nuts. It was one of the heaviest snow squalls I've ever seen, and it was in downtown Baltimore on 3/31/2003. Someone for the Tribe hits a 100' pop up right behind the bag at first. No one saw it. The ball fell right on the dirt/grass cutout behind the bag in fair territory, 2 runs scored, and the guy at the plate ended up with a stand up triple. THEN the game went into a snow delay. Snow probably lasted a total of 15-20 minutes, it was really intense for at least half of that time.

The O's rallied late and won the game 5-4 which put the topping on my best opening day memory ever, and I've been to a lot of them. Contrast that day to the '91 opener against the White Sox when it was 90F and almost sultry. Rookie for the Sox by the name of Sosa hit 2 bombs that day...

Well, here's some useless trivia. Looking at the first 10 full days of astronomical spring (March 22 - March 31) and assuming KMDT hits a forecast high of 40 today, this year is going to be the coldest during this stretch since 1984.

Averaged KMDT high for the 1st 10 days of spring

1984 = 42.8

2011 = 44.6

2001 = 45.8

:shiver::thumbsdown:

Thing that really sucks is still no sign of any prolonged warmups, just wet and cold. Although GFS is showing a brief warmup and poss t-storm threat next week.
