Tulip Trouncer Threat - End of March/ Early April

Well, there's still some entertainment value in the overnight runs. It would be great to have a nice snow for a coda on the season. As has been said, this could very easily be a rain event for many/all of us (though I think I'll exclude Rick). By the time April rolls around, my expectation is rain. If anything accumulates, that's a bonus. The good news is that if it is snow, the paved areas (read: my driveway) will likely not get too bad and will quickly melt off so perhaps the snowblower can stay in seasonal retirement.

Meanwhile, a wintry chill today as I start tackling the trees.

20.0/8, windy.

Go Huskies!

Oh, it's certainly possible. But the climatological expectation in April is rain. This could be one of those where the bookies would lose.

In my bracket I have UConn and Kansas meeting in the championship game. UConn winning 77-72

A wise call Eric. As for me, this has been by far the worst bracket I have compiled. A stumbled out of the gate. And that was the high point. All my final fours are gone. and I had only 2 of the 8's. Ugly, ugly, ugly. I need this storm and continued UConn wins to keep my spirits up.

The rest of my bracket is a total unmitigated disaster .... 34 of 58 picks correct. I actually somehow had Michigan State going to the Final Four. :arrowhead:

Anyway, regarding the upcoming potential storm, I agree with you in that rain is more likely (especially for the eastern folks, like me). I've got it on my radar, but if it turns out wet instead of white I won't piss and moan.

100% agree. Even though I'm better situated for this (I think), there's no reason to b**ch over a rainstorm in April. Anytime during the prior 5 months is a different story. At this point, it's a bonus. Kind of like Butler getting to play another round and keeping the dream alive.

it's certainly possible it could be rain but late march first two days of april climo is more snow than rain >1000' so long as the track isn't up the ct river vally

climo mar28- april 3 is significantly better for snow than april 15'th and beyond

when you force the bar low....accuracy mirrors that. IMO

i hope you get a nice lil suprise snow mike ...at least we can agree that having some potential is better than 45 and dizzle

The Chesterfield CO-OP's stats are replete with examples of double digit April snowfall. It's not at all unusual for April to be snowy. Most of the big Winters feature April snow. I suspect this April will be no different. Also, some people are incorrectly assuming that this potential system will be the last shot. There will be more chances as we go forward. Maybe not for the CP, but for us certainly. The period around 4/8 or so could produce as well.

I really think we're gonna get bombed with this..This could be the one we've been waiting for .

The euro is about as slim a margin as you can get. A low going into NYC is not ideal, but luckily it's a 6 hr isothermal omega bomb..but that's cutting it close. I'd feel better if it were se.

18/8, low of 11. Great ski this AM in the brisk air. Amazing how wrong the Warministas have been.lol Big Winter incoming. Big Big Winter.

lol... I am actually waiting inside this morning for it to warm up on the hill before heading out. Its that cold.

Down in the village its 17F with a wind chill index right near 0F.

Up at the mountain its 7F with a wind chill index of -20F (colder in gusts) in a sustained 35mph wind, gusting to near 50mph.

Quad and Gondola are on wind hold, too, so I'm not too excited bout freezing my ssa to a fixed grip chair right now for a 15+ minute ride to climb 2,100 vertical feet.

After spending everyday of the Winter outside sun up to sun down I'm pretty much immune to the cold. The wind is my nemesis though. Not much you can do to defend yourself even with the best technical outerwear. It was impressive to get down to 10-11 degrees with the strong wind blowing last night. Psyched that it's been snowing in AK and it looks to continue. Endless Winter is the way to go.

Haha I realized it today... I'm all done with -20F to -30F wind chills for the season. Of course, I spend 6-7 days per week outside on the mountain from November through April, so this isn't all that unusual, but unless it is snowing/storming, I'm all set with these types of wind chills lol.

Crystal clear skies, not a cloud in the blue canvas... this is a classic January cold period. The lowest wind chill I saw this winter on the Mansfield meso-west station was -64F, so the fact that we are still touching -20F to -30F wind chills is impressive this late in the season.

The sun looks so warm and nice out there... step outside and get hit with a big bag of reality.

At least we aren't on Mount Washington... currently -4F with winds gusting to 82mph. Yikes.
