A-L-E-X
Yup. 1" at Central Park 1.3" at JFK .9" at LGA 1.2" at Newark 2.5" at BDR 2" at Islip Not bad at all. http://forecast.weat...OKX&product=PNS They must have a new JFK person who actually measures snow lol. Is this the total for both part one and part two? Im assuming it's the cumulative total.
A-L-E-X
On second thought.... it might just be the 24 hr total.... as they had 0.8 at 8 AM yesterday at JFK, so 1.3 would mean only 0.5 last night.... it's probably 0.8+1.

jconsor
With the extensive cloud cover and weak CAA, temps holding 4-5F below NAM MOS in NYC/LI/NE NJ. The mid-level clouds are steadily clearing from the north, but given the slow start I can't see temps reaching the forecast high of 45F in Central Park. In fact, I think they'll be lucky to exceed 40.

Sampson
I had to go to Lake Success, LI to meet with one of my suppliers this morning; it seems like upwards of 1.5" must have fallen, considering the cars still have over 1" on them and the sun is rather strong attm. Really nice little storm, it was fun while it lasted.

A-L-E-X
I think Newark N.J. and JFK N.Y. set snowfall records yesterday and today... So the JFK totals of 0.8 and 1.3 are each daily totals then? That's good, because I submitted a 2.3" storm total.

winterwx21
yeah he drop the ball. I had a soil temp of 50 and ended up with 2 on the grass and close to a inch on paved surfaces. He said he be shock if his back yard got more then a slushy coating. It did and now he is trying to lobby his case with time square. I was off a little, but I still had a good point with temps. Let's take a look at Somerville. They received about 1.00 of QPF from this event. How much of it ended up being snow that accumulated? I believe Somerville received about 2 or 2 and a half inches of snow. So only a couple inches on the ground despite an inch of QPF. So a TON of accumulation was lost due to temps being too warm. I had the right idea about a lot of accumulation being lost with temps not quite good enough. Did I take it a little too far? YES. My dusting to an inch call was a little off. We got a little more accumulation than I thought we would. But it's not as if I was THAT far off. I was too low, but there were other people that were too high. 1 to 3 obviously ended up being the best forecast for our area, and kudos to folks that predicted that. So Allsnow, I hope we can move on here and agree that while I had some good ideas, I was off a little bit as well. More accumulation than I expected, but a lot of the event was rain/sleet and a lot of accumulation was lost due to temps. Anyway, late season snow like this isn't quite as fun because of how quickly it melts. I look outside right now, and you wouldn't even know it snowed. All of the light accumulation is gone. It was still very nice for a brief time, but early season snow is more fun because it sticks around longer (in general) and you have the comfort of knowing that most of the winter is ahead.
