It has been snowing pretty much constantly here since 12:30. Mostly light with some heavier burst like the one about ten minutes ago. Still not sticking to the pavement but I'm picking up nice accumulations on the grass. Can't wait to get home about 5:30 and measure to see how much more I need to get to 7".

Funny thing is, judging by radar you wouldn't think it was snowing as hard as its been. If it was January this would have been a high impact event.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EDT THURSDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER

ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EDT THURSDAY.

* LOCATIONS...NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY...COASTAL CONNECTICUT AND THE

LOWER HUDSON VALLEY.

* HAZARD TYPES...MODERATE SNOW. THE SNOW MAY MIX WITH SLEET AND

RAIN IN THE EVENING.

* ACCUMULATIONS...2 TO 4 INCHES OF SNOW. HIGHEST ACCUMULATIONS

WILL BE ON GRASSY SURFACES.

* TIMING...ANOTHER ROUND OF SNOW WILL MOVE ACROSS THE AREA THIS

EVENING. THE STEADIEST SNOW WILL FALL BETWEEN 8 PM AND MIDNIGHT.

LIGHT SNOW WILL LINGER INTO THE MORNING.

* IMPACTS...EXPECT HAZARDOUS ROAD CONDITIONS TO DEVELOP AS

TEMPERATURES DROP TO NEAR FREEZING...ALLOWING FOR A SLUSHY

Last night I went for 2" - 6" across Long Island...just another 6" at any one spot and the high end verifies...

Nice snowshower just came off the Sound and into town...temps and light conditions *almost* good enough for snow to start sticking....

This is a setup similar to what goes on in the southern U.S. frequently when Tstorms move in from the warm to cold sector...this happened in north Texas a few years ago and places saw 10-12 inches of snow even though it was 35/32 or 34/32 when the precip moved in, and that was during the day.
