Radar down in central NC lighting up like an X-mas tree and heading NE.......can it get here by nightfall?

It's losing some of its pop...still a nice looking line but not as much red as before...

I-95 has a shot today... Nowcast in effect. Slight risk just west of 95.

Doubtful on 95 in our area...maybe the western burbs. The SPC nailed their original slight risk zone perfectly for yesterday in this part of PA...they didn't need to adjust east last night.

Got up to 88.6 today...so an official high of 89. Winds went west the last hour, too.

Severe potential, I would guess, should be mostly confined to west of the Delaware river. The mid level height field orientation doesn't support organized convection getting much farther east than that.

Latest HRRR keeps storms west of I-476.

87.4 imby today

there's a half-decent storm down by baltimore... tops pushing 43 kft according to TBWI and at least a weak hail indicator

moving rather slow though, looks like 3-4 hours until it gets into Philly...if it holds together...

That thing is pretty much a heavy shower, and is gonna go well west of PHL. Not expecting much out of tomorrow either, thoughts?

I agree. Looks like a repeat of yesterday & today, only with weaker severe parameters.

I already have my eyes on next Wednesday. The GFS has been timing that fropa nicely, with precip moving in right around 0z for several runs now. CAPE is >3000 as well.

I am totally amazed that others on this board are not commenting on the fact that basically every line of thunderstorms that have formed in western and central pa in the past three days have primarily moved north and little eastward, basically over the same path with the blue mountains being the demarcation line. I have never seen a a blocking pattern like this in years. God, if this was only the winter. I see the path of the thunderstorms moving slightly east tomorrow- just maybe we will see some of that heavy rain in macungie to wash off all of the pollen on my car. No hail- just rain will due. Still waiting for the tropics to get interesting.

The NWS confirmed that it was an EF-1 Tornado that ripped through the West Penn Park, which I kind of suspected, as straight line winds don't usually snap tree trunks 20 ft up from the ground. According to the Times News newspaper, the tornado was on and off the ground for approximately 18 miles from Cressona to West Penn Township and had winds to 110 mph.

West Penn Community Park about 8 miles south of Tamaqua took a pretty good hit last night. In photo #4 with the collapsed pavilion, you can see that the trees surrounding it were snapped off about 15-20 ft above the ground. I wonder if it wasn't a small, short duration tornado that caused the damage.

There was a pattern just like this at the end of April. It took three days for a front to clear Pennsylvania.

Yes there was but it was a normal rain event ----not thunderstorms. Training thunderstorms are just as good as a major snowstorm. Training severe thunderstorms over the coal areas are rare, especially when three tornadoes have hit Schuylkill county in the past couple of days. Sorry to disagree but this is a rare event and should be discussed in more detail on this board. If this was a 24 inch snowfall event- the board would be lit up with three threads discussing the same storm.

You almost never see these extended SPC outlooks in the Northeast...Wednesday seems like it could be a pretty active day.

Going from 90-95 ahead of the front to the 70's behind it...I'm not surprised. That could be a moderate risk day if parameters come together. #kissofdeath.

Just went through the de storm... Nothing. No precipitation falling. Looks as if it wants to get it's act together though. Driving down to dc for the weekend.

Have a good holiday weekend everyone! Remember the troops!

despite some random quick showers here and there, Its really becoming very dry around here. My ground in spots is showing cracks in the soil, literally. We havent had to mow the grass since monday and it really hasnt grown at all much due to the lack of regular rain. And plus the resoviors ( how-ever its spelled) are gonna be taking a hit with their levels as people are beginning to fill-up their swimming pools. 2 neighbors on my block just recently filled their in ground pools using their garden hose, so with that, its not good we will have a very dry week ahead with just wednesday with an outside shot at rain.

disagree...grass is still pretty green and growing...so you didnt have to cut since Monday, grass shouldnt be high in 5 days. Dont worry we have a while to go until we have to worry aout it being dry.
