I said that going into this....I was ready for Spring and would forego the opportunity for more snow chances because the risk of tonight outweighs the reward, IMO.....I was ready for nice wx.

This isn't whining...I said it going in.

So saying you will whine ahead of time, then whining, makes it not whining?

jk

I really gotta get to sleep. Big test tomorrow! Big test incoming!

I expressed an opinion....that is not whining.

All I am doing here is rationalizing my decision to opt for spring....what do you want me to do, tell you I enjoy cloudy and 38* in late March....no one will and if they do, then they're crack whores.

Well I'm pretty disappointed. I have nothing to show for this month except a coating. Oh wait...I had about 0.4" on top of a trash bag. March is such a horrible month, without some good wintry wx.

If next week does not deliver, this winter will have a bit of a blemish on it despite how good it was. There's something that just sucks about a 4th consecutive complete garbage of a March. That said, we'll have a couple more chances before we write the eulogy for 2010-2011.

I was fine with the wx last week, but I'm sorry....I'd rather have a crack head with VD p*ss on my forehead than endure confluence in latter March; if that constitutes whining, then tough sh**.

Bravo! should have started that back in February when it was painfully obvious that the weather was out to steal a bit of your life away in wait -

Aren't you going to include February in that distinction? February was an epic failure unless one wants to rationalize it as better - which would be apart from reality imo

It's not a CD though in my estimation - I think my explanation for Hub' has a lot of truth. In other words, a very identifiable cause that could easily have been ferreted out of the leading indicators; alas, snow blinders - it's another reason why I dislike the snow obsession that tends to come before Meteorology too often.

Why does it have balls?

Magners flowing Celtics losing and I'm going to fight Jerry Thursday night. Good times

Well everybody is in a rush for Spring, but the pattern for now..is not. Maybe if we're lucky we'll be in the 20s in the morning, instead of the 10s. That will feel much better. Actually, maybe we'll get a 10 degree temp rise and 30kt winds. Thrilling.

Depends where you were that month...the south coast and SE areas were an epic fail. It was ok here. I had 24" of snow in the month of February and below avg temps and a very picturesque ice storm on the last day of the month (pics here ). It obviously was not the same pattern that gave 50" of snow in 3 weeks in January, but to expect that again would be ludicrous.

The crappy part of February was missing out on a potential big event the week before the mid-month torch. But 'tis typical of any winter month here (except the epic ones like January). March has been on a totally different level of failure.

No you are totally right there, Will... But like I was just saying to Ray, the warm days and climbing sun angles really ruined it quite early.

That three week quiet period may have allowed some to come down from the "high" of January. Even around here, yeah the torch period was a bummer, but the three smaller events at the end of the month at least ended it on a nice note. Plus, we had the snowcover still trying to hold on. It was much different to my south.

I mentioned this earlier to Will, but the one thing that I will always remember from this winter were the 3 or 4 storms that tracked near the canal and kept me all snow. Almost unheard of. Hell it was all snow for a good chunk of se mass!

I'm stating facts...you are stating opinion John. Its fine if you thought it sucked. I agree it was not like January, that's obvious. There was a net loss of snow pack because of the mid-month thaw.

Facts: February was above avg snowfall with below average temps for Boston and Worcester and all towns in between and north of the MA/CT border.

How you want to interpret them is subjective. I could have done without the mid-month torch too that put a dent in the snow depth, but guess what, I can think of so many Februarys worse than 2011. In fact, take the last 3 previous Februarys before this one for starters. It was a decent winter month. But when you are starting the month with 3 feet of snow pack, you are likely to have net loss.

May have, ha - that was equally as impressive a dismantling as it was creating.
