HoarfrostHubb
Nice Dave. I think you are the only Easterner that gets out on the snow on a regular basis. Easterner? lol (pickles is almost caught up to me). This year has really been fun.

dendrite
This has to have been the biggest bust of the year... Barely any flakes... Tim Kelley had the ballz to mention April 1997 the other night... grrrrr Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you I'm going to assume he wasn't referring to this system. Mr Torchey
tough one to take. especially knowing its probably the last for the "entire" sne crew. summer looks to take charge after the ridiculously boring cold snap later next week. I for one look forward to CTHEAT, and yes Pete, your snow will be gone soon:(

ski MRG
27/23, sn, looks like we're wringing out the last of the precip before it has a chance to move east. This is probably it unless there is some regeneration or rogue batch of precip. GN.
HoarfrostHubb
I'm going to assume he wasn't referring to this system. As per his blog the other day... "Then what happens to that Upper Low? It may retrograde (back westward) setting thestage for a powerful Nor'easter next week. That is what happened here inDecember, a North Atlantic Blocking retrograde resulted in our December26th blizzard. But this is not December, so something more like whathappened April Fool's 1997 may be in the cards." Edit- Now that I re-read it, maybe he is refering to next week (this was posted March 20)

Typhoon Tip
I wonder if I'll see a flake. Star lit night here in N central Mass at this point. There's just no dynamics left... vaporizing quickly. NAM model was the model of choice with the ECM a close 2nd. Interesting.

HoarfrostHubb
Can anyone explain what happened to this? Wasn't this going to be at least a long lasting "meh" storm with an inverted trough tickler Thurs afternoon? Even the NAM was fooled for a little while... Wasn't this going to be at least a long lasting "meh" storm with an inverted trough tickler Thurs afternoon? Even the NAM was fooled for a little while... It's simple conceptually... The SPV was too dominate. The S/W moved into the confluence and that is a negative wave interference (deconstruction), and the dynamics thus dwindled away. The NAM ...kinda was fooled - maybe - but even on that run it was still the skimpiest solution.

I was under the impression that the vortex was actually going to help out in the end, the lil bustard. Interesting about the deconstruction. Much appreciated and at least I am learning. Typhoon Tip
WINTER IS OVER No it's not - let's not overreact here. It is by calendar, not by pattern. With a rapidly descending NAO and a spiking PNA before April 1 leaves lots of opportunity - that's as objective as we can put it. This event was written in the stars and it was painful to read the enthusiasm of this thread when it was hanging in the air like a denying pall - people just choose to accept information selectively. Clinch Leatherwood
Pete and Kevin still saying to ignore models and keep faith? Worm has turned we are back to reality snowiest forecasts ftl. We all busted in my wildest imaginations I expected at least a coating. This is a total disaster for ncep, NOAA, tv etc.
