Mr Torchey
had about a twenty minute period of moderate snow, now tapering off, looks like we wait for tonight. Really happy for the jersey weenies, the pics are incredible! 34 flurries
Logan11
Yeah, but the great band that did that has been continually shifting north and looking more and more ragged. It's actually not that far down I-88 from me now, but I'm wondering how much will be left of it when it gets here. Maybe later on things will regenerate along that axis. Wow, 4-5 inches across northern nj, almost 8 in scranton!!!!

HoarfrostHubb
That;s the map from Monday's snow Yeah, it always seems to do that when I am here at work. I just posted the newer one...posted at 8:45 today

Clinch Leatherwood
Still only 0.5 here.. Not sure I agree with the map. Well let's be honest a surefire sign we were screwed all winter was high totals on that map for us. It's reverse year....I think that means we do okay. Mr Torchey
nice area of precip developing over central pa, good to see state college reporting light snow, should be an interesting set of 12z model runs.
CoastalWx
What are you thinking for amounts? I probably would guess 4-6" possible. It's tough because if some sort of heavier band develops and trains overhead like what happened in NJ, it could definitely be more. A little disheartening to see the euro QPF. Logan11
A cold day here in any event. OVC and stuck at 24 degrees with a dew point of 14. Probably not too conducive to more than virga from this approaching band. 3-4"...ill take it

This will be cool even if I only get the 3" or so on the map, since my yard still has 2" from Monday plus some older stuff.
ChrisM
by the way is this band cutting through right now just bonus snow?
Logan11
My 2 inches from Monday was completely obliterated. It hung on all day pretty well, but during the night we spiked to like 37 and a dense fog set in.. By the time drier air came in it was essentially gone. Then we didn't get above 36 all day yesterday..... Still the crusty ancient stuff in the forest .,..maybe from 2 to 8 inches. Nothing but a few drifts in open areas. jt5019
SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT/... MODELS HAVE COME INTO FAIR AGREEMENT...TAKING LOW PRES INTO THE OHIO VALLEY TODAY...THEN OVER THE DELMARVA AREA THIS EVENING... THEN SOUTH OF LONG ISLAND AND SOUTH OF THE 40/70 BENCHMARK TONIGHT. THERE ARE SOME DIFFERENCES WOULD COULD IMPACT HOW MUCH QPF AND HOW MUCH SNOW THE AREA RECEIVES. LATEST GFS HAS ABOUT 1/2" LIQUID QPF ACROSS THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY AND INTERIOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN CT BETWEEN 00Z-06Z TONIGHT...WHEREAS THE NAM HAS THAT BAND JUST SOUTH OF LONG ISLAND. 00Z ECMWF SEEMS TO FOLLOW WITH THE NAM...SO WILL FOLLOW THAT TREND. THE PASSAGE OF THE LOW SHOULD BE CLOSE ENOUGH TO KEEP MOSTLY RAIN ACROSS THE CITY AND LONG ISLAND THROUGH THIS EVENING BEFORE MIXING WITH SNOW AND SLEET AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. FOR ALL OTHER AREAS...WILL GENERALLY EXPECT A WINTRY MIX TONIGHT. MAIN QUESTION IS WHERE WILL BANDING SET UP. IN ALL...A SLUSHY INCH OR SO OF SNOW/SLEET ACCUMULATION IS POSSIBLE FOR NYC/EASTERN NJ/LONG ISLAND AND 1-3 INCHES FOR COASTAL CT AND SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY. AS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED...EXPECTING 4-7 INCHES IN EASTERN PASSAIC AND ORANGE COUNTIES AND 2-4 INCHES FOR THE REST OF THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY AND INTERIOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN CT. So I'm not discounting the Euro yet.

ORH_wxman
Will what are you thinking? You'll probably get advisory snow...Im think we struggle with 1-2 here. I'm still a bit intrigued by this inverted trough after the main comma head...I wonder if a narrow zone picks up some pretty good snow.
