Thunderhead Hawkins
I should have known that this past winter would end up being something special when I awoke Christmas morning to this... There is a song by Alabama called "Christmas in Dixie" and one line goes..."it's snowing in the pines" Next came the biggie January 9th-10th.. The first picture I took overnight as the event unfolded. I couldn't believe at how much snow we had at that point. I think this was right before midnight on the 9th I had never seen snow this deep before Everything was buried The next event come on the 20th of January with about an inch of accumulation. Finally, the last snowfall of the season came on February 9th. The following picture was taken just after sunrise on the 10th. I don't think I can recall a winter that featured snow in December, January, and February. It's hard to determine a final snowfall total for the season but its probably around 13 inches We also had 2 small icing events, one on December 15th and then another on the 4th or 5th or February. Here's hoping next winter will be just as good, if not better! Seasonal snowfall average around here is 2.3 inches.

michsnowfreak
Very nice pics, and very impressive for Alabama to have 4 snowfalls! How long did your Jan 9th snow stay on the ground? I do a winter recap of pics too, but not sure the snow seasons done here. Has been a great winter, snowcover on all but a few days from early Dec to mid-March, but now the ground is bare and just some piles in parking lots remain. Still...Im holding out for one more

There was still several patches of snow around through that Saturday though. Snow mounds in parking lots last a couple weeks.
