That was nuts...thunder/lightning with hail (I checked the consistency and it certainly looked more like hail than sleet). Although now that the thunder portion is over, I think it's now a rain/sleet mix. Wild stuff here in Harleysville PA at my wife's workplace.

Parsley...that's what it looked like in Harleysville, and I would say it was most likely hail. Rare to see hail with temps in the mid 30's.

Same here. If it wasn't for the thunder, I'd say sleet. But it certainly looks more like hail. Regardless, crazy weather tonight!

Very interesting event. I'd tend to think they were HUGE sleet pellets, but maybe it was hail.

The pictures were taken on my grooved doormat and the ice was accumulating between the grooves. Size was pea, at most (whatever it was).

Usually you get big raindrops in t-storms, and those are usually from melted graupel, I believe. Thus big sleet pellets would come from partially melted graupel pellets.
