earthlight
This year is just amazing. It's likely not going to stick unless it's heavy..temperatures may be hovering around freezing (maybe even a bit below here in Western Union), but there are easterly 10m winds and the ground is warm. earthlight
Shortwave kicks into a higher gear at 63 hours. Surface low is exiting off the coast...snowing moderately to heavily in the city, all of N NJ. Rain/snow line is over Mercer County NJ. Surface is very cold, too...32 F isotherm is south of Newark. Zelocita Weather
It's likely not going to stick unless it's heavy..temperatures may be hovering around freezing (maybe even a bit below here in Western Union), but there are easterly 10m winds and the ground is warm. It stuck today, it will stick on grassy surfaces (at least) on Wed, just a matter of how much. Shold be snowing hard enough for that not to be too big of a problem. I might be able to make it above 60" for the season yet!
earthlight
Lol, clown maps showing 8+ inches into Western NJ at 66 hours..4-8" in the city and Western LI.
earthlight
Sleet line gets to Staten Island at 66 hours but it remains snow for the city. 925mb low passes south of the city near or over PHL which is a good spot to keep it frozen.

earthlight
Once the mid level centers close off, the cold sector precipitation will rapidly develop, which is what the NAM shows in the image Alex posted above. That is where the heavy snow could fall..and verbatim this run gets it done. The 12+" amounts are overdone, but this run verbatim is likely indicative of a warning criteria event. Edge Weather
If this holds true, then the NOGAPS and the Canadian were the most consistent models with this storm. Then the NAM got it when it came into range. It sounds crazy, but it is true.
