SACRUS
Id take that now. Suspect we wont reach 80 till mid/late april this year. I still think the summer is up for grabs and a colder/wetter summer is not a lock in the northeast,

uncle W
it was a crazy Spring...we got 3" of snow with temperatures in the low teens a week before the heat wave...April 1990 saw a little snow...
gravitylover
I could handle a string of 80* days right about now, like 20 in a row. That would be the only thing to dry up some of this goldarned mud

Isotherm
80s now would be disgusting. I'm all for a long, hot summer, but keep that kind of warmth until May. Plus, it makes the tree pollen go crazy way earlier than usual.

SACRUS
1998 saw five straight days 80 or better to close out the month...it hit 90 on the 31st imby... Upto 86 in NYC that day. 1945 had a slew of records the second half of March as well with several 80 degree days.
A-L-E-X
Id take that now. Suspect we wont reach 80 till mid/late april this year. I still think the summer is up for grabs and a colder/wetter summer is not a lock in the northeast, We also got about an inch of snow in April 1990 so that was a massive turnaround. Almost as massive as what happened between Dec 1989 and Jan 1990 in reverse.

Stormlover74
If I recall correctly the forecast for that day was only for the upper 60s to low 70s, which already would have come close to or broken the record. Then we ended up busting 15 degrees too low and hitting the mid 80s. I remember coming out of school thinking there was no way it was only 70. On the 14th and 15th a seabreeze kept the coast cooler while inland stayed in the 80s. Finally on the 16th we got into the 80s again before more normal weather returned
easternsnowman
March is around 6 or 7 degrees warmer than it was back in the late 1800's, I believe someone showed stats on that. If you look at the past 10 years or so it is around 1.5 degrees warmer than the 1971-2000 averages.

A-L-E-X
To remove the taint of UHI, let's just use the high temp avg-- and then you see that March in the 1940s was the mildest by far.
