i dunno who thought it would rain all day long.. it always looked like waves though we have arguably seen fewer waves than modeled. the upper low is crawling either way.

LWX had 100% of rain today and it sounded like it would be an all day event when it stopped raining early this morning and havent had a drop since then.

I'll bet there's some potential of real flooding to the north of Charlottesville. I guess that's Orange Co?

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...

north central Nelson County in central Virginia...

City of Waynesboro in western Virginia...

City of Staunton in western Virginia...

southwestern Orange County in central Virginia...

Greene County in central Virginia...

west central Madison County in northwest Virginia...

southwestern Page County in northwest Virginia...

northern Albemarle County in central Virginia...

east central Augusta County in western Virginia...

southeastern Rockingham County in western Virginia...

* until 1100 PM EDT

* at 806 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated

continued showers and thunderstorms over the warned area. Road

flooding has been reported already and will be made worse by

additional rain.

* Some locations that will continue to be affected by the heavy rain

include Afton... Crimora... Crozet... Free Union... Grottoes...

Sherando... Stanardsville and Lyndhurst.

And that area of rain looks to be intensifying and moving oh so slowly north.

Another soaker here today. 0.77" total. Looks like the rest of the night will be like the last few hours...some brief showers not adding more than another few hundredths.

Another one Friday night and Saturday. Great pattern for filling up the ground water levels in advance of the heat.:pimp:

I measured 2.4" in my rain gage this morning. By far the best total I've seen in the 10 months I've lived in Stephens City. The total seems high compared to other locales; M'burg reproted 1.47" for example. I guess the showery-type nature of the storm resulted in some variability in totals. I've found that the Stephens City area is usually on the lighter side of every event; maybe we were due. Just planted some trees and grass seed, so I'm loving it.

Anyone in the Fred Co (VA) area get similar totals?

and then we got that much again overnight and this morning! the airport is at about 1.5" now for this storm. it's been a good wet start to spring out here.

Yes, when I turned in last night the radar didn't look very impressive. That ULL made a left turn at a most opportune time. I measured 1.21" for the event at 7 a.m. this morning, so another 0.44" overnight here.

I've totaled 9.88" since 2/21. Great benefit to the groundwater.

0.45" last night, I'll take all I can get at this point.

Any updates on Saturday? Looks like some interesting wx being progged.

looks wet. track is OK but models keep bringing in activity pretty early and focus more on the rain than anything else.

euro is 70s/80s all week next week. see how that plays out..
