Funny that I have to resort to posting pics of my Station to show I'm not making up OBS

Bottom: Calibrations Offset: = .0 Meaning, its not an adjusted reading, it is what it is.

<snip>

Well if you hadn't posted such BS obs in the past, no one would question you.

Pics of where your station is set up, plz :D

Great moving day today! One load down, and Jason will be joining me for the second trip. Moving isn't that bad when it's 8 minutes up the road :P

Sure.

Please Note The Roof is going to be replaced, so I had to move the station down to the front yard for now. So I won't be able to give accurate Wind OBS for a bit.

If you think I'm lying about that, I'll take pics of the roof :P Or the Missing Shutters that I've been too Lazy to replace. Have alot of work to do this yr.

The Potomac River is Behind the White house across the street, hence the Dropoff that can be seen behind the trees in the distance, (to the west)...thinking maybe that might be affecting my Readings?

Because I double posted

It is in the sun: Hence, the solar panels :P

that's not how your post read.. but whatever. im not going to argue about your temp being 4F higher than anyone else.

I deleted it, because I realized how stupid a post it was. The Vantage Pro 2 is supposed to get as Much sun as Possible into the solar Panels.

The Closest WXbug station to me is reading 64 degrees right now, so I dunno why it must be a local hotspot.

Did you used to have that thing mounted on the roof?

Is the roof being replaced due to storm damage? Is that how you lost the shutters too?

It's a bit cumbersome, but a personal weather station should ideally be placed in an open area (with grass at the base) away from objects to get accurate readings on all accounts. Mulch will generally absorb heat better and could cause too high of a temperature reading.

EDIT: To add that the roof is an even worse location for everything but the wind.

The roof is being repaired due to 27 years of aging/neglect, and should have been repaired a long time ago, it has nothing to do with crazy weather. The Severe Storm On July 25th certainly didn't help things though, but it was more of the shot/injection that ended its misery.

The shutters have also gone without maintenance for 27 years, and have been weakened over the years. My nieghbor is also missing a shutter. Its what happens.

Oh, I thought surfaces that reflected heat (concrete/pavement/etc) caused the highest temps? Guess I don't know as much as I thought.

Would the current location be better than the roof overall? The roof is a Pain in the Ass when I go to change the batteries, I climb up there and its a tightrope walk.

Yeah, roofs generally don't last much more than 20-25 years, so it sounds like it's time.

One thing that confuses me about your post. You say the Potomac is behind that white house, but also say it is to the west. I thought the Potomac was to the south of your location?

A question for anyone. In that picture, I assume that the cylinder is a rain guage? If so, why is it shaped smaller at the top than at the bottom? Am I seeing that incorrectly? If not, what's the reason?

The Inside of the Rain Gauge is not Porportional to the outside. As in, the inside is more "Bowl Shaped". A wider outside shell probably improves airodynamics.

My Rain Gauge is actually fairly New, I ordered it in Late July.....as you can tell by the difference between the Weathered Station & the Bucket....so airodynamics won't do everything :P

I'm sorry, I meant Booze Creek. The Potomac is to the SW actually, but Just as Close by..I'm Between Glen Echo and Bannockburn Ridge, as far WSW as you can get in Bethesda / MD without considred a freakin Virginian :P

Both have an Elevation Drop of like 60-100ft from my 'hood, so they confuse me a bit since that the biggest topographic Influence they have here.

Ah, that makes more sense, but I'm still confused.

If Booze Creek is immediately to your west, I can't figure out how you're much closer than a mile to the Potomac? (Sorry, it's the map geek in me...)
