Completely agree, reminds me of Miami somewhat.

I'm not very comfortable walking outside tho! I guess you have more guts. It seems alot closer than it really is, but knowing that doesn't put me at ease.

Only reason I went out to stormwatch tonight is because the storms are a good 20 miles to my north! But I'm with you -- I have an all-too-healthy respect for proximity to lightning, having had it strike my childhood home and literally fry/cook every circuit and almost every appliance in the house at the time. I was about 13 when that happened and judging by the sound/feel of it, you'd have thought a nuke burst directly over our house. The flash and bang were nearly simultaneous, so it WAS directly overhead. :lightning:

The northern light show has died down quite a bit over the past 15-20 minutes and the focus has now shifted to the NW again -- lightning seems more diffuse and a lot less frequent, but definitely looks to be coming from the direction of that streamer developing back towards Cumberland and Somerset.

Off to bed to read and then later, hopefully, hear some thunder...

effing BAD ASS CG lightning show. One of my most prolific CG photo sessions EVER. Woulda kept going by ran out of battery power (and batteries get expensive to get enough to last all day).

Slightly bigger version:

Line must be sinking south some, lightning getting more frequent and getting louder thunder now

49 degrees

yeah it's moving south slowly.. not sure why, maybe more juicy. warm front should be going north so would have thought they would too.

@bdevil02

Nah man...those are cool. Sometimes these "perspective" shots I call them (distant lightning) images are great. Plus you have the City scene with is much cooler than random trees and such I have in the 'burbs.

Very different line of storms tonight. Can't say I ever remember a line of storms set-up like this in the area. At least not while decent radar has been around (80s on up). I could be wrong, but I'm confident nothing like this since 2000. (minus summer 2001 when I lived in FL or summer 2005 when I was in the hospital almost all spring and sick all summer).

Nice Pictures!

Awesome shots, Jason!

Awesome pics Weather and bde. Thanks!

Thanks all...appreciate the kind comments.

tis arizona like.. 30 second exposures or longer with the 4 bolts?

15second to 30 second, most of the multi's are 30 seconds. No more than that though.

Here's the beginning summary page I'm putting together. Mostly just pictures right now and a little summary at the end:

I realize these look completely amateur compared to Weather Warrior's, but the lightning show was amazing. What a strange event.

i know what you mean but i dont think this was like a fl t-storm at all other than the lightning. it is more analogous to something you'd see in the west but seeing it fire continuously on that one thin band was odd even if it had something to do with the warm front.
