My girlfriend works right across the street from the harbor and they're asking all employees to leave early because of concerns about the upcoming high tide. I don't know my DC hydrology, and I was out of the country for two weeks, but I guess I'm kind of surprised by the river flooding. We've had plenty of storms over the past few years that have dropped a lot of rain. What made this one special? It has been wet for a little while now, but it followed a mostly dry winter. One of the heaviest axes of precip was right over the Potomac basin and the elevated areas around there. Seems like those places were already fairly water logged. Though the pattern seems kind of spotty/odd. For the most part it's a minor flood event by the numbers. Georgetown probably wouldnt have had the issues if the flood wall was working.
