SuperNET
0309: Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano says: "Now we are talking about levels that can impact human health. I would like all of you to embrace this information calmly. These are readings taken near the area where we believe that the release of radioactive substances is occurring. The further away you get from the power plant or reactor the value should go down".
Bodhi Cove
There was a hydrogen explosion at #4 this morning (local) which caused the fire; is this a second explosion, or are they just reporting that one? I almost wonder if they were so distracted by 1-3 that they weren't paying attention to #4. I hadn't heard anything about them pumping water into #4 to keep it cool. Have they said anything about keeping #5 and #6 cool? A power plant with 6 reactors -- and they have no power to run their cooling apparatus. Actually 11 reactors automatically shut down from the earthquake ( all depend on generators) from FOUR different plants.

Ian
CNN has been really bad. I remember in Gulf War 1...they were so far above everyone else. Now it's almost unwatchable and being schooled by others. Live US Stream here....best information around. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/nhk-world-tv I'd hope Japan press can cover a Japan news story better than a US media corp. Can't all make stuff up like FNC.

Clinch Leatherwood
I'd hope Japan press can cover a Japan news story better than a US media corp. Can't all make stuff up like FNC. They are leagues behind MSNBC, Fox, and CNBC now. Fox did a better job tonight than Pierce Brosnan or whatever his name is. There was really no need for the AP type comment on Fox..others have made similar comments about the quality of coverage for a tragedy. --- Kyodo now reporting the same thing as CNBC World awhile ago...fire out at reactor 4. -- US stream back up http://www.ustream.tv/channel/nhk-world-tv

Nikolai
go away. ... then learn to read thread titles? Cluttering up this thread with economic news when this thread is about a reactor meltdown doesn't make sense, especially when this thread is pushing 1,500 posts (and there's no need to be an ass either, I'm trying to help, especially if you want to actually discuss the economic issues).
