cnn on tv reporting reactor # 2 was the explosion..

CNN reported that there was another 10' tsunami inbound at this time last night. They're really fallen apart.

CNBC World carrying the same story, explosion at reactor 4. Also saying the government "cannot deny it"....

They also jsut reported the fire is OUT at reactor 4.

Looks like the recent posts about #4 Hydrogen explosion are bad reporting by the press. Lots of confusion/mis-information.

The link content copied below:

BULLETIN: Container damaged, radioactive materials feared to leak at Fukushima plant

[TOKYO, March 15, Kyodo

Radiation is feared to have leaked after the container vessel was damaged at the No. 2 reactor of the Fukushima nuke plant Tuesday morning, Tokyo Electric Power Co. said.

talks about the #2 reactor vessel breach being suspect.

There was a hydrogen explosion at #4 this morning (local) which caused the fire; is this a second explosion, or are they just reporting that one?

I almost wonder if they were so distracted by 1-3 that they weren't paying attention to #4. I hadn't heard anything about them pumping water into #4 to keep it cool. Have they said anything about keeping #5 and #6 cool?

A power plant with 6 reactors -- and they have no power to run their cooling apparatus. :arrowhead:

CNN has been really bad. I remember in Gulf War 1...they were so far above everyone else. Now it's almost unwatchable and being schooled by others.

Live US Stream here....best information around.

Offline for me, but CNN is streaming it as well.

This disaster is like the Titanic in that so many different variables came together in just the precise way to lead to catastrophe. Maybe we should not build nuclear reactors in such earthquake prone areas and on a coastline where a tsunami could occur. But engineers had to have considered the possibility of such an event when the plants were constructed and it was probably extremely small. Illinois to the west of me has 6 nuclear plants that have operated safely over the years, some of the same age and made by the same company as the ones built in Japan. We are indeed in uncharted territory with this horrible event.
