Toshiba and TEPCO hit limit down going into the lunch break. Thought about getting some and decided against it.

BOJ will probably intervene again. Have done a good job with the yen.

No doubt that they are on the line with Ben.

you beefing up the percentage of renewable energy company stocks in your portfolio?

winds are from the NNE in Tokyo , but very light

Lighter winds near ground level and above are worse. The radiation will float up a few miles and then slowly rain down on a concentrated area versus being spread out in less concentrated doses over a wider region.

Winds will shift coming from the East by 3 PM, taking the plume away from Tokyo. Then by 6 PM the wind will come from the South East which will take the plume over Akita. By tomorrow the winds will push things over the ocean east of Japan.

So, the other thread now has over 1,300 replies, so I figured it was time to make a new one. As this is the first post, I'll include a brief summation of events that have transpired:

-The Fukushima Nuclear Plant is having very serious issues, and has already suffered a partial nuclear meltdown

-Reactors 1, 2, and 3 have all had significant explosions

-Reactor #2 may have had a breach of the inner containment vessel, likely releasing the most significant amount of radiation yet

-Reactor #4 was damaged by the explosion in reactor #3, and while reactor #4 was not operational at the time of the earthquake and tsunami, the explosion from reactor #3 has apparently caused a fire at reactor #4, which poses further serious risks of radiation release

Please keep speculation and hearsay to a minimum & be sure to include links when updating the situation!

While the situation continues to evolve in a confusing manner, the thread should be kept free of distraction/unneeded hype of the situation.

thanks to whichever mod merged the threads, as if it isn't confusing enough already...

Cnbc world saying it's the fire at 4 causing the problems. Unclear if spent rods are burning in reactor or hard storage either way they're saying that's causing the worst of the radiation problems. No source given.

Nik futures down almost 14%

Mayans ftw?

It doesn't make much sense since the higher radiation levels are near 2 and 3...lower at 4. The Japanese government officials did say it was highly likely that number 2 reactor vessel was damaged in the explosion.

It's the offseason. Let's just keep it in 1 for now.
