Baroclinic Zone
And one more from the side. This is a 5 day difference from June 20th to now. You can see it greened up from the fertilizer. I am going to do my first Compost Tea batch this week. I can't do it tomorrow since I won't be home. It looks as though it will be Tuesday at this point. I'm really anxious and curious to see how this all plays out. I'm hoping for the best.

WIth synthetics its instant gratification, rapid release, nice thing about organics is its a slow release, should last well into the early autumn, good luck with the tea, please let us know how it works out, and kudos on all the hard work! Yeah, I am a bit surprised as well at the green up. You saw what I used, Chickity Doo Doo. I think I'll stick to that since I like the results so far. Next year I need to get the Corn Gluten down as a pre-emergent weed control. I do have some weeds at this point since I did not put anything down. I'm doing my best to weed them as I get a chance. My hope with the Tea is that it will eventually break down the top layer of soil so I may not have to do as much top dressing. What I may do is do the larger areas that need repair with the top dressing and than do an aeration w/ overseed for the rest. I've been reading up on what types of grass would work well and I know there are a bunch of Fescue's that will work. I also saw you post an image of Zoysia and I am curious if it is hardy enough for where I live. What's your take? It looks like a pretty good drought resistant. Is it not good as an overseed? Is it not good as an overseed? zoysia is very invasive, it will become the dominant grass in the lawn, the drawbacks are that it stays dormant longer, and goes dormant early, but you can overseed with a perennial rye in april a couple weeks ahead of your first fertilizing. When it comes to weeds, what has worked for me is simply cutting at 3-4 inches, you can still mow often, but cutting at a higher height actually shades out the weeds, and makes for a much more lush lawn, which stands up to traffic (kids and animals playing on it). zoysia grows like bermuda it creeps, I would recommend overseeding in the fall with a nice fescue! Thanks, yeah, I agree, the Fescue sounds like the best option. One other thing I am going to do is introduce Dutch Clover(Kev's archenemy) to my lawn. We've been raised to think that it's a weed when in fact it's natures perfect plant to get nitrogen into your soil.

We've been raised to think that it's a weed when in fact it's natures perfect plant to get nitrogen into your soil. I have tons of it in my lawn, and also wild strawberry. Clover is the first thing I look for when going to a new account, its a tell tale sign of a healthy landscape! I put down the sustaine slow release back in april, and I wont touch my lawn until October with the same thing, clover enables and regulates the nitrogen in the lawn and in the past was a prized addition to any lawn, besides it even stays green in the worst of droughts! .. and when it flowers provides the landsape with a nice white pinkish flower, great stuff
