ski MRG
Nice Joe, Things are looking a little more Spring like here but leaves have a way to go especially across the highest terrain.
Logan11
Looking at the Catskill escarpment today ...leaf out is getting close to 2K feet. Above that looks like winter yet..... Small leaves on all, but the ash trees here and they are about to burst. The HV looks almost like early summer now. weatherMA
Lawn mowing wayyyyyyyyyyyyy overdo here. Haven't mowed it since 5/1 when I did it for the first time. Its a jungle right now. I'll probably do it after school tomorrow.
nzucker
Planted sweet corn seeds and some white eggplant transplants today, looking good. Ground cover of Pachysandra in front growing well as usual. Perfect temperatures for the garden/yard with a high of 70.1F and a low of 51.5F. Can't wait for the heat as the tomatoes already have their flowers and will set fruit quickly if we start to get into the 80s.
amarshall
We are having an office lawn contest. So we all took pictures. Keep in mind I live in the city. Town dug up my street and sidewalk due to a water main break, so I'm replanting the grass on the street. The town thought dirt would be enough My next door neighbor told me I was planting my grass wrong and that I should do it his way. I can't possibly know what I'm doing since I owned my own landscape company for 7 years. I've made it my life's work to hear his wife tell me how nice my grass looks and what a terrible lawn her husband has. start them young

Baroclinic Zone
I still have not mowed. I'm letting it grow. My plan is to do it either tonight or tomorrow before the rains come. I need to put the blades on the mower first though.

I need to put the blades on the mower first though. I mowed about half of the lawn last weekend, the other half did not really need it. I will need to do both either today or Saturday (maybe Sunday early?) Nice sharp blades, recently tuned up... like brand new

amarshall
Nice...that's my beach area....I still got a town sticker for that. My parents have a house on Foster Ave / First Road that's been in the family since the dinosaurs. Irish riviera baby. I really want to link my Davis weather station in Quincy with a satelite weather station on the beach in Marshfield. My neighbors all say they don't last too long down there. SJonesWX
heavy heavy overseeding took place this weekend at my palace. rented a slit-seeder and dropped what seemed like 6000 lbs of seed. hoping for some nice rain this week. well i have to say that the slit-seeder worked really well. In areas that had grass, the grass has come up really well, it is getting very thick, even where i had moss. the areas that were bare have 1-2" grass coming up, but it isn't real consistent. i plan on heavy heavy watering this weekend if it doesnt rain. Town dug up my street and sidewalk due to a water main break, so I'm replanting the grass on the street. The town thought dirt would be enough Beats the look of my grass! I did mow half the yard yesterday. I think the next time, I'll be able to run through the daffodils as I don't htink they'll be lasting much longer. I didn't want to have to mow today, but with the rain in the forecast, I think I'll need to finish the job. I may need to get another mower. Originally I had planned to but I put it on hold to buy a new log splitter. But, I'm thinking I may need to get one this year anyway. There's a 50" Cub Cadet that has very good reviews and a 48" Deere that has decent reviews. I like the idea of a Deere, but that's just due to their successful marketing and reputation. What are folks thoughts on the Cubs? Either will be a welcome step up from my 42" Craftsman. (If anyone is interested in that, let me know--we'll probalby let it go for a couple hundred). Are you buying it from Home Depot or an outdoor power equipment dealer. Both John Deere and Cub Cadet have different model lines depending on where they're sold. Both John Deere and Cub Cadet have different model lines depending on where they're sold. I was looking at both Home Depot and Tractor Supply. The Cub at both stores is a 22hp Kawasaki 50" The Deere is at HD. It's a 22hp Both are priced at $1999. The HD site has only a handful of reviews for either (Deere performs better, but a small sample). Many more--and very positive--reviews on the Cub from the TS site. ski MRG
So deos mine--as long as you look at it from a long distance. Mike, I've heard that you shouldn't immediately mow the Daffodils after they bloom as the bulbs need the leaves for a while after for nutrients and growth. Ginx snewx
I remember one time several years ago suggesting we GTG at Kevs house for wiffle ball and beer. He told me his yard was no good for wiffle ball, looks nice to me. Real reason, nobody allowed on the lawn.
