METAR KYNG 110051Z 27009KT 1 1/2SM -SN BR OVC004 01/01 A2975 RMK AO2 RAE18SNB2354 SLP082 CIG 003V006 P0006 T00060006

Here's the metar for YNG... note .06" of precip in the last hour, so if that keeps up, could see .5 to 1 inch per hour rates (even with a 10:1 ratio). At this point, I doubt any has accumulated though because it just changed over.

Interesting..

.AVIATION...(645 PM EST THU MAR 10 2011)

MAIN CONCERN IS AN AREA OF SNOW OVER EASTERN LOWER MICHIGAN THAT MAY

SPREAD WEST OVERNIGHT TO INCLUDE THE KLAN AND KJXN TERMINALS...

WHERE IFR CIGS HAVE THEREFORE BEEN ADVERTISED MAINLY AFT 06Z. EXPECT

MVFR CIGS AT OTHER TERMINALS WITH BRIEF FUEL ALTERNATE CIGS BLO 2KFT

POSSIBLE. THEN...EXPECT IFR/MFVR CIGS AT ALL TERMINALS TO RAPIDLY

LIFT OR DISSIPATE TO VFR CONDITIONS AREAWIDE AFT 15Z AS HIGH

PRESSURE BUILDS INTO LOWER MICHIGAN.

If i am reading that right you guys to my east in se MI appear to be in great shape!

I do admit that i like seeing this ( closed off ) as well.

That *should* help pull the moisture a bit westward. The 12z NAM was too far east/se with that. GFS was a tad to far se with it as well. The 18z NAM did not even have it closed off. The GFS was again a tad to far se.

Just unreal, another screw job for, ssc :( I'd be so long gone out of MKE if I could get in a area that gets hammered with the LES within about a hr or so like you probably can from toronto and where hairy lives in battle creek. South shore of LM wouldn't cut it for me either - hard enough time staying on the snow side of storms up here and trying to keep a snowpack.. no way I'm moving south for a extra 20-30" of fluff.

Even though he prob. has close to his seasonal average for snow, I'd have a hard time not grading out my winter anything better than a D+ in ssc backyard.

Good luck and enjoy - MI & Ohio.

Really never seen snowfall rates like this before - just incredible. Temperature out is 36 and amazingly the snow is accumulating it is coming down so hard.

Wow, looks great out there. I experienced something like that in Feb with 6" of snow in three hours. It was like a torrential downpour of snow.

I got your "hairy" for you. :P

Kalamazoo is a much better spot on all fronts vs here. Eventually i will end up there.

One thing Ill say to keep in mind for any potential the coming weeks and the nice MJO may hold. This bs about snow not accumulating this time of year as easily? HA! Saturday the ground literally was filled with standing water, thanks to a washed away snowpack of nearly 1.5" water content + over an inch of rain, yet snow started sticking IMMEDIATELY and 6 hours later we had 4.7" with fluff factor coming into play. Now, its 33F after another day of completely soaked saturated ground, its not even snowing hard, and I already see a coating of white.

I think the constant cold we have had since Dec 1 has frozen everything and helped aid snow accumulation.

Thats true. Every day on the way to work I see this one area in the median that is a pond and has been ever since the first meltdown Feb 18-19th. the water has been refrozen and reburied in snow, but has been sitting there for what, 3+ weeks now. Its not a pond..its supposed to be grass!

Thanks for the sympathy Bowme. Not even upset about this one. Just the story of the winter. 0 for 5 in 2010-11 after 0 for 0 last year. lol. Last time I went on a 2 year snowstorm drought, 2007-08 happened, so maybe that's a sign of what's coming next winter.

And yeah, I'll be looking for a job in about a month. Snowbelt is definitely on my radar. Maybe I'll move across the river from Josh. Snow's attracted to him like stink on a monkey.

 Just in a lucky streak. Feb 1-Mar 9 we saw 6.10" precip and 36.5" snow.
