i think the stuff coming later is in sw va

edit: i guess that's sort of the same stuff perhaps

The Lynchburg to Raleigh stuff looks like its blossoming and has our name on it.

The overall movement of this latest batch has taken on a slightly more east of north movement on the last few frames in response to what's going on to our sw. No more se/nw movement.

yeah everything is slowly shifting east but the trough is pretty neg tilt at this pt so the individual cells want to try to move nw.

Going by radar appearance would not be a good thing to do with this storm... especially since the stuff that's supposed to hit us later hasn't really even formed yet (the NC stuff... just starting to go, but isn't nearly as robust as it's going to be later).

And the stuff to our east also seems to be back-building a bit. Rain had stopped here for a while, but it's started up again. Still a ways to go before things clear out.

You should post this in the richmond metro thread, I dont think anyone here cares about a little storm in the middle of no where ;)

and on the back side of the front snow is coming down hard on the dolly sods webcam... http://www.fsvisimages.com/fstemplate.aspx?site=DOSO1

high country got through all this with a solid snow pack and fresh covering in progress..

the lack of real warmth has probably help retain a large liquid equivalent for future flood potential

where is the Jon Jon update???

Just broke the 1.0 mark. Waiting for incoming 3rd round. That just may break the area as far as street flooding is concerned. Good thing it's arriving at the end of the rush. Looks like we'll have a short break if nothing develops out ahead of the next line. 61 with a 60dp. Juicy.

booze creek is really high right now, only about 2 feet until the old flood plain begins to fill up. Ironic they just started a restoration project a few weeks ago, and this would ruin the $1,000,000 spent there? Not sure of the actual process, so Its a guess that they'd be f**ked.

Isabel had that area flooded for almost a week. Lucky that my house is 100ft above it ;)

All it does it clutter up the thread ;)

It's quite relevant to the thread... it's in the region and is happening during the storm (does it say NoVA/DC/Balt./WV in the title?). Besides, the RIC thread isn't doing jack right now anyway, and I would rather have the warnings/alerts posted in this thread than in an ongoing thread that doesn't pertain to this particular event. Also, it was only one post.

-----

In "I'm not going to just use this post for discussing a non-issue" thoughts...

More warnings to our south as storms continue to intensify this afternoon. The activity should keep going into NoVA and maybe, MAYBE into DC... right now the storms are in decent air, but they could run into some issues once the get into the more stable air in the DC/NoMD area.

Southern VA just came in with wind report #1 of the day:

2100 UNK 2 WNW SAXE CHARLOTTE VA 3695 7870 TREE DOWN ON SHUFFLETOWN ROAD NEAR SAXE (RNK)

technically these threads are for everyone in the region.. the crew in SoVa just likes to sequester themselves. i think it's relevant since it is moving this way anyhow.
