Mr Torchey
Whats amazing to me down this way, even though we have had a couple decent rain events and a 2ft snowpack melt since mid Feb, no mud in my lawn, constant wind and mild temps have really dried everything out nicely. Logan11
If you look at the map Eastern NE may be too far east for the Eastern Time Zone anyway. It probably (astronomically) belongs in the Atlantic zone. Why should BOS be 3 hours removed from CA and 5 hours removed from the British Isles..... ME is a stronger example. All of the global soundings are for 00z and 12z. Why would the rest of the world want to shift an hour for I-95 bedtimes?
Logan11
Well you probably don't have clay based soil. We have the nastiest clay and you might as well not even try to do anything outside for a month after snow melt - before the strong sun angle and consistent warm wx dries it out. Exactly, sand based here being so close to the sound, and clay is nasty, very slow drain, very slow.

Take it to the fooking lawn thread! How did the pah-ty go yesterday? Finish all the shellfish? My lawn/yard will be useless before early May. Snow still otg, clay soils, blech... ChrisM
I stand by my statements that this winter sucked. We had one big month, with a few good storms. Other than that, winter was cold and dry. We had maybe 10" outside of January here? We've had the same ugly snow on the ground for the last three months now almost. Glad it's finally melting. Time to do some spring skiing then move on. CoastalWx
be sure to use your pot holders and oven mitts before you touch the 12z gfs The one thing that the GFS loves to do in the Spring, is bust warmfronts into NNE. If you see those toasty thicknesses over SNE, but notice a little kink in the isobars over SNE....probably a good indication of a stalled warmfront. CoastalWx
LOL..that is plain dumb There have been a few relative screw zones. HubbDave is one of them and I think nw CT may be in another. It's nothing like last year, however. I think BOS may be the "winner" relative to normal.

ChrisM
LOL..that is plain dumb I don't always live in Eastern CT, you know... A December with no snow until the last week, a blockbuster January, a very lackluster Feb with a few inches and mix storms, and a March without any snow. If that's your version of a great winter, so be it.

Just many others have had 120-200% of average. I still might pass you city boy! I guess Eby is back to teaching?

Some people's version of a great winter is a few gigantic mega blizzards of 20+". My version is a 6" storm every week for the whole winter. That would literally be my dream. OSUmetstud
Trust me, my contention goes well beyond the confines of the view points amid the I-95 peoples. Beside, the "world" does not really honor our time changes system anyway. The point still stands - they need to run the system independent of that clock handling - but they do run the system independent of our DST changes. UTC is universal...and that is what the world's models are run on. If anything should change, it should be us getting rid of DST.

weatherMA
aren't you 12? ? I just think its irresponsible to say this winter sucked. Sure, you may have been in a relative screw zone but an above average winter doesn't suck. Maybe you didn't have an epic winter, but it was better then average for everyone in SNE. Whether it was 105% for HubbDave or 200% for BOS and southern CT.

Yea, haha, agreed... I also edited that right away saying maybe not so much, much for that reason. Also, pretty strong confluence setting up nearing D6 promises to put an end to the early spring vibe - will be interesting to see the extended.
