3/10-3/11 Storm

Thunder Road

Was the current 50 dbz at state college predicted?

radar looks like they are drowning

1.46 here and winds gusting to 31SE

I was thinking that could be melting snowflakes being picked up, but I don't think so, its in the mid 40's out there. Looks like they're just getting smacked.

Those who were trying to downplay this from around here, and some in the NYC thread are going to be sadly mistaken.

I see you're still on your high horse about the downplaying issue. Give it up already. It's been an interesting storm, but not a worldbeater. It was modeled correctly, but the long duration of the storm has lessened flash flooding (so far). I live next to a creek that was in flood when the rains started. We've gotten 2.25" so far with another 1/2"-1" to go and the creek isn't yet into my yard. It's a once a year event for ME. Don't overplay this. Will the main stems flood. Probably in a minor to moderate way, but I don't see catastrophic flooding from this.

Your bolded statement says it all, it's not all about YOU and what happens in your backyard. There's a lot more people in this tri-state area then just you. And not once did you see me type there's going to be catastrophic flooding, because we don't know if that's going to happen or not. And you can't say at 9pm at night, hours before this event is over, that it's not going to happen. Nobody knows. What that post was directed at, is to the people that were screaming bust, hours ago, before the main event even started. And have you by chance looked to our south, at what's forming minute by minute coming north at us? I hope for your sake this stuff doesn't move over your house, with you already having over 2 inches of rain, and a creek right next to you.

Mt. Holly radar is down. It always goes down when we really need it.:gun_bandana:

The KDIX radar does not always go down when there is active weather. It has been quite some time since it failed during active weather. Keep in mind that these doppler radars are running nearly all the time and parts do wear out or fail despite monthly maintenance.

I'm not scared of my shadow like some. I have wind blown rain coming through three windows as I type and I'm not crying about it. Sh!t happens. If the rains come and the water rises to my house, guess what? Sh!t happens. There's nothing I can do about. I don't ask you or anyone else to feel sorry for me or be concerned about my plight. That's my problem.

Awesome! Perhaps your backyard should have its own subforum.

Look man, don't know what you're smokin but up where I live THOUSANDS of folks could be threatened by the Susquehanna River. And my friends over in Bound Brook are flipping out right now. Many of them lost everything in Floyd.

We are looking at the highest river levels in 6 years on the susky come saturday morning and that band of rain means business coming up out of SEPA making a beeline for us in NEPA. The temps hit 50 today and we were concerned with the 20 inch snowpack up stream. Looks like that's toast.
