nws-lynn.burse: Quick environment update. Sweet spot for tornadic development next couple of hours definitely looks to be centralSW MS and NE LA bounded from Natchez to Jackson to Carthage. 400 to 500 0-1 km SREH across this area. Storms that are riding from Port Gibson up toward JAN metro and then NE are riding along the northern gradient of a 0-1km EHI max of 4 to 5. That storm in western Hinds looks particularly dangerous.

nws-jared.allen: Boundary is stalling out along Hinds and MAdison Counties...the Tornadic Storm loks to ride along this boundary and this may enhance the tornado strength/potential with the storm in central Hinds County.

I will never, ever ever chase at night.

I can't even tell what I'm looking at in that video....if the tornado is visible at all, it looks like a monster of a stovepipe. That might be an optical illusion, I'm not sure.

Without the appearance of any power flashes or lightning, I would bet to say that's just a rain shaft. There's way to prove that is a tornado. Does Yazoo City have an interstate running through it? I'm not too sure that is from Yazoo City.

Speaking of the Yazoo City Tornado, the downtown damage was just rated EF2 with winds of 115 MPH. Damage three miles southwest of town was rated EF-2 with winds of 125 MPH.

PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SHREVEPORT LA

746 PM CST TUE NOV 30 2010

..DAMAGE SURVEYS COMPLETED IN NORTH LOUISIANA

A DAMAGE SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED ON NOVEMBER 30, 2010 OVER PORTIONS OF

NORTH LOUISIANA FOR STORMS THAT OCCURRED ON MONDAY NOVEMBER 29, 2010.

TWO TORNADO TRACKS WERE FOUND AND ARE SUMMARIZED BELOW.

TORNADO #1

LOCATION: NEAR ATLANTA, LOUISIANA

BEGINNING POINT: 4 MILES WEST OF ATLANTA, LA AT 312 PM

ENDING POINT: 2 MILES NORTH NORTHWEST OF WINNFIELD, LA AT 325 PM

RATING: EF4 WITH MAX ESTIMATED WINDS OF 170 MPH

PATH LENGTH: 14 MILES

MAXIMUM WIDTH: 400 YARDS

FATALITIES: 0

INJURIES: 0

SUMMARY OF DAMAGE: NUMEROUS TREES WERE SNAPPED NEAR THE INTERSECTION

OF COLLIER AND WATER WELL ROADS. THE TORNADO THEN CROSSED GUM

SPRINGS ROAD, WHERE IT COMPLETELY DESTROYED ONE WELL-BUILT TWO

STORY BRICK HOME AND AN ADJACENT BRICK GARAGE. THE HOME WAS

APPROXIMATELY 4000 SQUARE FEET IN SIZE, AND ITS DESTRUCTION WAS THE

BASIS OF THE EF4 RATING. MANY OF THE NEARBY TREES WERE SNAPPED,

WITH SEVERAL NEAR THE HOME SNAPPED OFF AT THE BASE. ONE MOBILE HOME

WAS ALSO DESTROYED, WITH ITS REMNANTS BLOWN INTO A WOODED AREA

ABOUT 300 YARDS AWAY. ANOTHER NEARBY HOME WAS MODERATELY DAMAGED,

WHILE TWO OTHER HOMES SUFFERED ONLY MINOR DAMAGE. THE TORNADO THEN

CROSSED INTO AN OPEN FIELD BEFORE ENTERING A HEAVILY WOODED AREA.

THE TORNADO TRAVELED NORTHEAST ACROSS HIGHWAYS 84 AND 167, WHERE

SPORADIC MINOR TREE DAMAGE WAS OBSERVED JUST NORTHWEST OF

WINNFIELD.

TORNADO #2

LOCATION: NEAR BOSCO, LOUISIANA

BEGINNING POINT: 13 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF RICHWOOD, LA AT 418 PM

ENDING POINT: 11 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF RICHWOOD, LA AT 426 PM

RATING: EF1 WITH MAX ESTIMATED WINDS OF 90 MPH

PATH LENGTH: 3.5 MILES

MAXIMUM WIDTH: 100 YARDS

FATALITIES: 0

INJURIES: 0

SUMMARY OF DAMAGE: THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN AN INACCESSIBLE

WOODED AREA WEST OF THE OUACHITA RIVER. THE TORNADO TRAVELED EAST

INTO AN OPEN FIELD OFF OF HOOTER ROAD WEST, WHERE IT ENTERED A

WOODED AREA. NUMEROUS TREES AND BRANCHES WERE SNAPPED. A METAL

AWNING ON A HOME ON HOOTER ROAD EAST WAS TORN OFF AND DEPOSITED IN

A LARGE OPEN FIELD BETWEEN THE HOME AND A LEVEE ALONG THE OUACHITA

RIVER. SOME SHINGLES WERE ALSO RIPPED OFF OF THE HOME. TREE TOPS

ALONG THE LEVEE WERE ALSO SNAPPED, AS THE TORNADO TRAVELED NORTHEAST

AND LIFTED ALONG HIGHWAY 165 IN THE BOSCO COMMUNITY.

Yeah well you were highlighting the potential days in advance and nailed it as always

Sounds like that EF-4 was a very near EF-5....I would like to see the pictures of it....based on the description I'm kind of surprised it wasn't unless it was because of that location being isolated with damage that extreme compared to the other damage.

That damn sure isn't Yazoo City because they don't have an interstate, or (if you looked closely enough) any high rise buildings.
