Calderon
The cell that left Port Gibson continues to look mean and is heading right towards the most densely populated part of the Jackson area, the north side.
Indystorm
Yes, there is a nice couplet showing up even on the NWS velocity radar scan for the cell headed to Jackson. I would imagine it really means business when seen from more detailed radars.

SmokeEater
nws-lynn.burse: Quick environment update. Sweet spot for tornadic development next couple of hours definitely looks to be centralSW MS and NE LA bounded from Natchez to Jackson to Carthage. 400 to 500 0-1 km SREH across this area. Storms that are riding from Port Gibson up toward JAN metro and then NE are riding along the northern gradient of a 0-1km EHI max of 4 to 5. That storm in western Hinds looks particularly dangerous. nws-jared.allen: Boundary is stalling out along Hinds and MAdison Counties...the Tornadic Storm loks to ride along this boundary and this may enhance the tornado strength/potential with the storm in central Hinds County. Calderon
The original cell is becoming linear, but a new cell just to the Ne, just west of Ridgeland and the I-55&I-220 JCT is pulling ahead and turning right. The strongest cell is definetly up in Attala County near McVile, south of Kosciusko.

somethingfunny
Footage of tornado hitting Yazoo City, Mississippi from last night I will never, ever ever chase at night. I can't even tell what I'm looking at in that video....if the tornado is visible at all, it looks like a monster of a stovepipe. That might be an optical illusion, I'm not sure. Without the appearance of any power flashes or lightning, I would bet to say that's just a rain shaft. There's way to prove that is a tornado. Does Yazoo City have an interstate running through it? I'm not too sure that is from Yazoo City. Speaking of the Yazoo City Tornado, the downtown damage was just rated EF2 with winds of 115 MPH. Damage three miles southwest of town was rated EF-2 with winds of 125 MPH.

patrick7032
Yeah well you were highlighting the potential days in advance and nailed it as always Sounds like that EF-4 was a very near EF-5....I would like to see the pictures of it....based on the description I'm kind of surprised it wasn't unless it was because of that location being isolated with damage that extreme compared to the other damage. Fred Gossage
This makes the 13th EF4 tornado of the year in the United States. We got off to a slow start, but this year has turned out to be extremely damaging.
