Yeah...I tried to make it clear that you guys just to my west would have to worry about those pesky warm layers aloft despite the progs.

34.4F here. It's going to struggle to transition to FZRA until 9-12z I fear. We'll see how it goes. I won't be awake for it though. :snowman:

BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED

FLOOD WARNING

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAY, MAINE

1001 PM EST SUN MAR 6 2011

...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAY HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING

FOR THE FOLLOWING RIVER IN NEW HAMPSHIRE...VERMONT

CONNECTICUT RIVER AT WEST LEBANON AFFECTING GRAFTON...SULLIVAN AND

WINDSOR COUNTIES

.AN ICE JAM HAS CAUSED THE CONNECTICUT RIVER AT WEST LEBANON TO JUMP

OVER 9 FEET IN LESS THAN TWO HOURS AND IS NOW APPROACHING FLOOD

STAGE. THE RIVER WILL LIKELY TOP FLOOD STAGE OVERNIGHT AND

CONTINUE TO FLUCTUATE THROUGH THE NIGHT DUE TO THE UNPREDICTABLE

NATURE OF ICE JAMS.

RAIN OR MIXED PRECIPITATION WILL CONTINUE TO CHANGE TO SNOW THROUGH

THE NIGHT, IF IT HASN`T ALREADY AND TEMPERATURES WILL FALL INTO THE

20S. THIS WILL BRING AN END TO RUNOFF FROM RAIN AND MELTING SNOW

AND WILL HELP THE ICE JAM TO FREEZE UP AGAIN.

PEOPLE LIVING OR TRAVELLING NEAR THE RIVER SHOULD MONITOR THE ICE

JAM AND WATER LEVELS CLOSELY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED AREAS...IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW IF THE

ROAD IS SAFE FOR TRAVEL. TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN!

Toot. Yes, we stole your January snow. We would do it again. We will neither repent nor assuage. We are now keepers of your mud. We will relinquish the mud, but only after we visit and selfishly use your snow.

Vim vim

So you're the one, huh? Stop, thief.

You and your pillaging tribesmen from the steppes of CT Minor stole my snow.

Was it worth it?

Snow torn from it's rightful place, cursed by we elders of Aroostook that the vandals would rue the day they piled our snow away.

And the day is here now. You defy us from an unsteady perch. You have feet of mud.

Mire is your reward. Wallow and slog in your swag, mudcat.

Keep your gumbo and ooze, bootslop.

Just leave us your money when you come up to visit with our snow, silk stockinged rusticator.

Vim Toot!

You sir, have the appearance of a decent fellow, thus the far reaches of NNE have been granted March snows that are your sovereign right.

Our ooze, which approaches sever inches in parts, alas, is destined to follow, such as it is necessary.

Glad you can still poop.

On a more serious note, the ice jams and flooding that hiker mentioned sound downright nasty. Yikes.

Baron we stopped the thieves.

in early February.

We took some of their unearned pileage and kept it here.

Cold white and unpolluted.

for you.

We now slowly but steadily return it.

to you.

Just today I have returned 8 inches.

May the Baron smile upon my humble hilly

though somewhat south

abode.

BTV going with some strong language.

AS OF 959 PM EST SUNDAY...WELL...BIG NIGHT. HEAVIEST SNOW EVENT OF

THE SEASON RAPIDLY TAKING SHAPE FOR THE CENTRAL PORTION OF OUR

FORECAST AREA AS FOCUSED AXIS OF FRONTOGENETIC FORCING...STEEP

LAPSE RATES...AND EXTREME MOISTURE ADVECTION FROM THE SOUTH TAKES

SHAPE. LOOKING FOR CONSISTENT SNOWFALL RATES OF 1-2"/HR FROM

03-12Z FOR THE NRN ADIRONDACKS...CHAMPLAIN VALLEY...INTO CENTRAL

VERMONT MAKING TRAVEL EXTREMELY DIFFICULT WITH NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY

AND SNOW COVERED ROADWAYS. GIVEN THE EXTREME MOISTURE ADVECTION

WITH 50-60 KT LOW-LEVEL JET AND FGEN...BRIEF 3"/HR CAN/T BE RULED

OUT FOR THE 05-09Z PERIOD MAKING TRAVEL NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR A

TIME. STILL EXPECTING AN ADDITIONAL 8-15" OF SNOWFALL ACROSS NRN

ADIRONDACKS...CHAMPLAIN VALLEY...AND UP INTO THE NE KINGDOM BY MID

MORNING MONDAY. ISOLATED STORM TOTALS...INCLUDING SNOW SINCE THIS

MORNING...WILL BE 16-24" FOR NWRN/N-CENTRAL VT WITH 16-20"

POSSIBLE AT BTV. STAY OFF THE ROADS OVERNIGHT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

But Bahk, I never figured you for a snow desperado.

You are CNE (now that Philly will no longer have you) and the snow you've rung up there wasn't another fellow's.

CNE certainly outranks the bottoms of SNE as vassals to dogsbodies.

We are having a snow eruption here.

My own particular Paricutin belches a blizzard somewhere out there in my fallow fields.

My snowfall rate is pyroclastic!

Tooooot. Enjoy.

It's raining here. The snows we pilfered are being returned where they belong whether I like it or not. I'll have to resort to paying to see snow very soon. Too late to wax poetic about it all. If you don't respond, I'll assume the plaster of snow you are receiving has wreaked havoc on your electric grid. Goodnight.

You're still getting the mud sooner or later :devilsmiley:

Event totals: 6.8” Snow/1.89” L.E.

Sunday 3/6/2011 10:30 P.M. update: In the 4:30 P.M. to 10:30 P.M. timeframe, 4.4 inches of snow fell here, indicating an average snowfall rate of 0.72 inches/hour. Since this round of snowfall accumulation doesn’t have any mixed precipitation in it, it should serve as a good measurement of the density of the snow falling with this system. It’s not quite down to 10% H2O, but at 11.4% H2O (8.8 to 1) it’s certainly less dense than the earlier sample that had some sleet/rain in it. I’m not used to eyeballing snowfall rates as well with these tiny flakes, but it’s certainly coming down out there – I went with a rate somewhere between snow and heavy snow. Some details from the 10:30 P.M. observations are below:

New Snow: 4.4 inches

New Liquid: 0.50 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 8.8

Snow Density: 11.4% H2O

Temperature: 26.1 F

Sky: Snow (1-3 mm flakes)

Snow at the stake: 28.0 inches
