I'm gonna do my favorite 1.5 miles snow shoe from this property over to a nature sanctuary today. Gotta savor every moment at this point in the season.

We still have a shot at ending as snow here Sunday night, but the base is going to be wrecked by heavy rain first it seems. Still full cover probably...but a hunk of ice.

Take off your hippy cap..shake the locks loose, let them flow gently over your face and catch a late winters tan

Nice..enjoy the day.our cold days are numbered as we head towards the worst season known to man..Spring.

Hopefully we all keep some snow..but if Sunday gets into the 50 degree range with high dews it's gonna be ugly

It is April/May that back doors and blocking are usually a negative. In March/very early April that kind of pattern can still contribute to decent snow events. Then in June onward it's usually welcome because it saves you from nasty heat. A back door in late June can mean 75 while the midwest is 100F.

I mean you can envy places like DC for their lovely April/May wx, but you don't want to be in their shoes in June/July/August when they have 50+ 90F days.....

that was awful.

as was june of 09.

Get 'er done. I've been soaking up the winter activities myself, knowing that the end draws nigh. Skiing when I can, skating when I can, plowing & shoveling when I have to. ;)

Yeah the heck with that. It's funny because when I was younger I didn't mind the heat. Now anything above 85 bothers me, but 75-80 for me is perfect.

Yep, I realize this could be it of course so I'm gonna enjoy these few days. But with such an active pattern in the long range maybe one of them can be a snowstorm - despite the models progs verbatim now....

I need to got out to Worcester today...too bad time is short or I'd try to hook up with Will but I will only be there for an hour and have a 3PM flight to DC from Logan later. Quick question: If the median strip of the Pike is bare, does it mean there's 0 for ORH?

There[[s actually bare spots in the lower parts of ORH where the south facing slopes have torched it....if you have an extra 15 min...take 122A toward Holden...that's up by me. You'll see the snow pack go from a 8-15" deal to a 18-26" deal pretty quickly.

It's crazy the variation of snowpack around here. There are plenty of bare spots...although I'd say less than 15% total area...but then there are yards with 2 ft. The neighbor next door probably average 18-24" in his front yard but about 3-8" in his backyard. We've torched down here a number of times over the past month but the pack is incredibly resilient. We do benefit from some really cold radiational cooling nights in the valley, however.

Call me crazy but I kinda always enjoyed those wrapped up stallers that keep us drizzly and in the 40s while kevin bakes....

Fall is worse then spring. those dead months between summer and first snow blowwwwwww

I love the fall. The weather is great, seasons are changing, football and playoff baseball....forgedaboutit.

I love March. Went to the gym this morning at about 9... car thermometer read 20 degrees. But walking from the parking lot to the front door in the March sun 20 degrees felt nice! Strong March sun FTW... SPRING IS HERE!

you must be happy to not have to drive the prius in the snow anymore.

I bet the executives at your station and all the other stations were pi$$ed there were so few snowstorms for February sweeps. Nothing jacks the ratings more than snowstorms.

My wife wants one of those Subaru Outback type deals, but I'm not big on them. At least you have the SUV weenie mobile. Kevin lost his nads and bought a Camry.

i've never owned a subaru but the new outbacks are pretty nice looking.

kevin has to drive a camry because he drives 10K miles a week. LOL.

Go to any gym and compare the people doing cardio versus the people doing weights...especially free-weights. The cardio crowd is fatter and the folks doing weights all look a lot better. Free-weights are boring but they carve people up a lot faster and easier than the machines.

You need a nice combo of both. I'm trying to do a little more cardio myself, but I'm not a big fan of it.

FWIW ...the GFS is "trying" very hard to get some blocking going next week and force the next low under more. I hope this is a trend. It would fit Nina climo I think as we move deeper into March. We gotta get that going in time to cash in ....and not just in April/May as people have opined.

Ensembles rolling out now and almost triple point sne, but a triple point doesn't do all that much good by March 10, without good arctic air.

The North Atlantic ridge clearly wants to push in but that vortex over Baffin Island and the Canadian Archipelago is hard to dislodge. Once the blocking broke down in late January, it's had a tough time reestablishing itself.
