March 4-8 Upstate NY / North Country Winter Storm

BGM and ALY have some warning upgrades to do...

I'm wondering what they go with for the immediate CD. its gonna be a close call for ALB but if the 00z Euro is right then at least advisory snows. NW of ALB looks like warning criteria for sure.

Yeah, I'm not sure. The GFS and NAM definately keep the warning snows N & W of the immediate CD while the Euro puts everyone in the warning snows. Aside from the Euro trending wetter, its also getting colder which makes a big difference for places like BGM to ALY.

I suspect ALY may hold out until the new 6z runs come in before deciding on which way to go, but for areas N & W of ALY I think the Euro has virtually locked up a 6+ snowfall.

just because its an impressive and fast transitiion from spring back to winter.....and you guys should be the first in upstate.

at least it was here impressive, and so are reports from MI and ontario next to you.

true that.. the first in NY to go over, about 10-15 min after Niagara Falls, NY.. I may hear sleet, but im not sure.. i may be buggin! I'm hoping we over-perform from this system... Potential is still there

the way the precip is moving.. looks like well get a decent amount of moisture after the changeover.. the precip is very sluggish with this system. VERY. A good amount of moisture still back in ohio, NW PA, back into indiana and that area.. if it moves due NE, maybe well get a nice thump. I'm hoping we break 6 inches.. Looking at intellicast and a few other radars, loosk like Toronto area is getting smacked right now.. Looks like were in for a few hours of heavy snow. I hope its slow to move through

just looked outside and im thinking back....i cant remember worse conditions this year......perhaps that groundhog day storm with the heavier band in montreal.... but the snowflakes are much more impressive right now, despite the strong N wind the dendrites are in good shape.

reports of nearly 6 unexpected inches in SW ontario as per the central forum.....snow continues all the way back through detroit. backedge moving very slowly

i had sleet for about 20 minutes, then it went over to snow and started accumlating right away, and an hour later it was a snowstorm

looking at Animated Radar loop, backend of snow moved about 40 miles in an hours time through Detroit.. If SW ontario hit 6 inches, we may be alright out there in buff! I'm not expecting a foot, but hey... ill take what i can get. Things are looking alright right now in my eyes

i'm in amherst, funny to see the TWC map showing that little pocket of sleet changing to pure snow over amherst... Using the old eyeballs, no snow yet

IMO, Intellicast is one the best radars out there for determining rain-mix-snow, the downside is that it only updates every 15 minutes...

WOOHOO buffalo! The fact NWS looked at the observations and said midnight changeover due to faster frontal passage.. and that it took until 3 AM, shows how slowly this storm is moving. I think we may get a decent thump for the next few hours. hopefully we can hit 6 inches.. now i can actaulyl TRACK the radar and bands with importance! looks like some nice bands crossing the Peace Bridge as we speak

my friend 20 minutes NW right by Niagara Falls reporting moderate snow. accumulating as well. NWS Radar looks a lot more impressive than what is actually falling.. Should start seeing some nice snows soon
