ORH_wxman
Up to 28.7 now That first batch of heavy zr warmed up things with the latent heat release Not gonna be much to stop it from warming with latent heat release...no replenishing of lower dews with SE flow. Those areas that can try to turn it more ENE and NE might prolong it a bit, but a lot of areas are struggling to do that...more E and ESE flow showing up. free_man
usually any kind of mist is associated with fog, correct? Or are they basically synonymous? Snow mist, freezing fog...it's nasty....looks like Alaska State Troopers show on A&E or whatever it was last night

There's a chance much of the area may see a dryslot after 18z. I wonder if most of the QPF up by you and esp just to the north falls as ZR..lol. If we last close to noontime with ZR, then it could get pretty awful. Its good thing this isn't a very high qpf event so ice accretion shouldn't get too out of hand, but even quarter inch amounts could be problematic with the snow on the trees. mattb65
There's a light zr/fzfg coating even here in the city - almost never happens. Though with temps at 29-30 I bet this next batch of rain pushes us above freezing.

Will--what are you thoughts out this way wrt the timing of the warming? We're up to 23.1/21 now from an overnight low of 20.3.
Mr Torchey
light rain 35 Those storms in western pa look sick, hopefully we can warm sector today and get in on some action sure as hell beats 30's and rain. Should continue to steadily rise throughout the next several hours...but still a ways to go to get to freezing. I don't have the best handle on it myself. But I think most areas will quickly approach freezing by 10 or 11am...however an area like yours may hold on a bit longer...its the type of thing where we may see it get to 30-31F and then it takes longer than expected to get those final couple degrees past freezing. I've seen that happen many a time.
mattb65
there is a pretty deep warm layer above the inversion and the precip rates are going to be heavy... not sure icing is going to be seen by that many people Oh and yet another forkyfork SNE troll failure. Seems like at least 90% of SNE sees at least some icing with some of SNE seeing prolonged icing.
ski MRG
Yeah fog is thick and trees are pasted in it. Beautiful scene as it gets light. I suggest folks soak it in. Bare ground and mud next weekend ..possibly even for MRG Stop, you just look foolish. You've been whining about losing your snowpack every time the temp looks like it goes above 32. If you had more experience with snowpacks you'd know they have staying power.

ski MRG
Bare ground will not occur at mrg land.....not even close. I don't think Pete has bare ground before April and then deeper into the month. The voice of reason. A wise sage.

ski MRG
Which is a little problematic as our burn season ends on May 1. I may need to get an agricultural dispensation permit. 20.7/19 Why not burn wih snow on the ground. Best way to do it as there is no chance for the fire to get out of control. I burn when the snow is on the way out but still on the ground. That or on days with light rain.

ski MRG
24/23, zr, Evrything really icing up quickly after a mixed start. Another great call by Forky, Seems like everyone sees icing. None of us would have any snow if his forecasts for New England actaually verified. Troll.

HIPPYVALLEY
Wow, this was a first for me. Just walked the dog about 2 mi. When I got home my hat, gloves, jacket and dog leash were all encrusted with a layer of ice. Pretty neat - i guess. Usually when i see fzra it's a lot closer to 32. 25/22 steady freezing drizzle. ski MRG
Heading for NNE shortly, I usually shoot up 91 to 89 but think today I'll go up the West side of the Greens as the warm air looks like it's already invading to the west, at least part of the way up. More Winter fun the next few days. Just an awesome Winter.
