powderfreak
Burlington (BTV) airport has just set a new record for its Snowiest February on Record. Records date back to late 1800s. As of yesterday BTV had 41.5" for the month and the record is 42.3" set in 2008. Through 7am, 1.1" had been recorded so monthly snowfall at 7am was up to 42.6" and now this month is the snowiest February in the past 120 years. ...CHITTENDEN COUNTY... 1 NE SOUTH BURLINGTON 1.1 700 AM 2/27 NWS OFFICE I think the more astounding stat, is that at least 4 of the top 10 snowiest February's have come in the past 6 years, and now it might be 5 in the past 7 years depending on if one recent year gets bumped out now. Regardless, an impressive stretch of February snowfall over the past 6-7 years; and an equally dismal stretch of March snowfall, haha.
CoastalWx
scott you say much of a FZR threat for early morn ride tommorrow i.e 6 am? Yeah it's possible. IP/ZR around that time, but it might hold off until later. I wouldn't be shocked if some areas have freezing drizzle overnight, as we dry out aloft, but lots of low level moisture remains. weatherMA
Freezing drizzle is probably one of the worst conditions for driving in...but if it happens at 32F on Feb 28F maybe it wont be too bad? Although it may start at night. I doubt there are any delays tomorrow but it has possible disaster written if freezing rain happens.
cpickett79
Yeah tonight looks icy esp in Western and central sne ..looks like we break out into widespread freezing drizzle..prob enough to delay schools tomorrow AM.. it makes me sick to my stomach to think about tommorrow's event outside of the wintry icing potential. i hope it can stay 40 or lower for the day....and i hope the heaviest precip occurs with temps near 35 or so. we need a thread for late tonite tommorws wintry potential as small as it is that way we can enjoy our snow high from today a bit longer
