Ji
Gfs wants to build blocking by the 10th. We have one more shot from March 10-

Bob Chill
March is an interesting month and Nina climo argues for snow chances. Can't put a fork in yet......maybe stick a toothpick in it until further notice. I would hedge on a 1 small and 1 decent event before t-shirts. marked8
Henry M came out at the tail end of his video today and said that around the 6th the NAO should start to go negative and we could have a big east coast storm. I guess we will have to wait and see.

MD Snow
I think march 5-7 could be interesting...still a little to far west but are we seriously going to get like 4 straight cutters? http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/gfs/18/images/gfs_500_228s.gif http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/gfs/18/images/gfs_pcp_228s.gif

Grothar of Herndon
if you like laker cutters and mistimed highs sliding off the Coast, the pattern is great Yep...I was having a good feeling earlier in the week, but looks like crappy pattern going to hold until to late for us. Mark304
Enjoy what we have. It's really nice today. Up in the 50's already. Maybe some storms tomorrow. It could be much worse. They are getting snow in New England. I feel sorry for them. I think they have the crappiest climate in the U.S....LOL
mdwx
With the pattern thats forecast (positive NOA, negative PNA). Yes we will. I know there is a lot more to it but the AO basically tells the story for Winter around these parts. After it finally went positive our Winter went negative. Personally, I agree - their springs are abysmal. It can be 70 and sunny here, while it's in the 40s with drizzle there. The backdoor fronts and the like... yuck! mitchnick
every indicie looks absolutely disastrous for the return of winter to our area. great, so let it get warm it is March and the chances of us getting anything significant goes down dramatically each day nothing worse than a cold, rainy spring around here while those to the north get blasted, because that's usually the best we can muster in March with a wintry pattern

mattie g
Winter will comeback when spring officially arrives with nice 40 and 50 degree rainstorms. That seems to happen a lot, but I suppose the times it does happen weighs far more heavily in some minds than the times when we don't get those nasty stretches. FrederickWX
10 days away is forever in model land Seriously. We've seen how many times that's worked out in January/February, the meat of winter. It takes something pretty significant, with all variables just about perfect, to get a good mid-March snowstorm. It can happen, but probably not this year. FrederickWX
I just hope it stays warm, at this point. The water temperatures need more time to recover. Me too. As I get older, the winters are less fun for me. I still love the snow, but cold/windy/dry is tough to take.
