No need to thanks to the vast climo info made available by each NWS office. See previous post (#620)...

True, but you gave her the wrong closest climo site.

Actually, this is better data from that site (I know because I grew up in the York Hanover area so BRlady here's your best data for your question):

YORK 3 SSW PUMP STN (369933)

1 78.0 8/6/1938

2 78.0 7/3/1956

Thoughts with easternwx, scary stuff.

Man the lifeboats guys, the ol' Susky's gonna be roaring by Friday morning.

Yeah man, i wish Zak well. This happens to him often. Remember the other year he went on a LES chase in NY and it collapsed.

The mighty susky is already roaring. Could get ugly down your way in the city.

oh, your lucky. Our softball and baseball fields are water logged. We were in the gym yesterday for tryouts and the baseball team was in the parking lot doing speed and agility drills. I bet its 2 weeks til we get on the field, unless they get that new obsorbant product and it may only be a week!

Here's the most recent hydrograph for Harrisburg I could find. For the last event, level crested 8ft over prior base flow. With more rain this time and higher saturation levels present, I could see moderate levels likely and maybe lower end major stage. At least we won't hit Agnes levels :flood:.

I so miss baseball. I remember playing in Pittsburgh in snow. In fact, when I played for Point Park College we were up in Edinboro, I was playing thirdbase when a snow squall started. The ump kept playing and I got into an argument with him. We had a junk ball pitcher on the mound and this big-assed right handed hitter up. I was like dude, I like my nuts. Stop the game.

There is this field up near Philipsburg, I swear they never are able to play until mid April. Sucky drainage, so about a full 25 feet of center field is under water that is actually freaking flowing. I chuckle everytime I drive by.

March 19th, 2011 is the next Super Moon. Only occurred in 1955, 1974, 1992, and 2005. Buckle your seatbelt Dorothy. It is believed that crazy weather has always surrounded this occurrence.

This has happened to me twice. Once while playing HS. it was late March, i think. I was playing Center Field and a squall hit. I heard the crack of the bat, but had no idea where the ball was.. Second time i was coaching a softball game. Early April, quick hitting squall came through, i was coaching 3rd base, #4 batter up lines one past my head, looked like a yellow streak going by. I called time out to speak with umpire, as i was walking towards him to ask if we could pause for a few minutes, he was kinda chuckling and said sorry coach, should have stopped a couple minutes ago.

henry m is talking about a big potential storm around that time - FWIW.

Oh, man, I took a hard ground ball of the bill of my cap and hit my nose, that's no fun. I had the seam mark on the bridge of my nose laugh.gif

BTW, both of our coaches in that Edinboro snow squall pulled out a rule I had no idea of in NAIA baseball (small college ball). If both coaches determine conditions to be unreasonable, they can pull the teams off the field without fear of forfeit.

No personal playing experience to share, but my wife and I were at the O's home opener in 2003 against the Tribe. Crazy snow squall hit in the middle of the game, we were in left field and could not see the stands on the first base side of Camden Yards for about 5 minutes. The Tribe scored 2 runs on a blooper over first that fell because no could see it. The hitter ended up with a 100ft triple that landed 10ft behind first base...and then at that point...play was halted.

Fortunately, the O's rallied late and won the game anyway.

Well, as a kid playing at Washington Boro park beside the river, I took a ball off the knee playing 3rd base. Train tracks span the east river bank all the way from Harrisburg on down. As luck would have it, I was watching the train and not the batter, and well, you can guess what happened next...

I know this is OT so all forgive me..But one of the last years i played softball, i was at shortstop. Big dude drills a hard, very hard ground ball towards me, i go to field it and the damn thing hits a pebble, takes a bad hop and hits my nose, which has not been the same since. I got a nice broken nose and it bled like the susq. river is now flowing.

keep up your spirits.. think of it this way: where can you stay in bed all day and play on a computer? They even bring your food to you...

the last time I really hurt my leg was during the blizzard of 96. two weeks or so after we had the floods of 96.. I was on crutches then as well...
