Wow. Had I had any idea what was going to transpire up there today I would have driven back up to my apartment.

Here in Carlisle....

At 10:28pm...the temp continues its slow descent now down to 32.7 degrees. Sleet began mixing in with the rain shortly after 7pm. It became more and more sleet until it was all sleet around 8:45. At that point snow began to mix in. Right now we have moderate snow still mixed with some sleet. About 1/4" of snow/sleet on the ground. Very nasty indeed.

I haven't measured the total rain since earlier today. I will wait and do a total liquid of rain/sleet/snow in the morning. I'm pretty sure I got 1.75" of rain before the changeover.

Quite a potpouri of weather out there since this morning.

Says it all right here.

CTP:

NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM MONDAY MORNING/...

PRECIP HAS CHANGED TO SNOW OVER ALL BUT THE LOWER SUSQ VALLEY.

BEEN A HAIRY NIGHT TRYING TO STAY ON TOP OF THE RAPIDLY EVOLVING

SITUATION. WE SELDOM SEE SIGNIFICANT SNOW ON THE BACK SIDE OF

STORMS LIKE THESE...BUT THIS ONE REALLY MADE UP FOR THE NUMEROUS

TIMES WE CALL FOR SOME ACCUMS AS COLDER AIR MOVES IN AND LITTLE OR

NOTHING RESULTS. WIDESPREAD 3 TO 6 INCH TOTALS SO FAR...AND IT`S

STILL SNOWING MODERATE TO HEAVY OVER PARTS OF THE MID AND UPPER

SUSQ VALLEY. WILL NOT TAPER OFF THERE FOR A FEW HOURS YET.

This morning I had to run up RT 44 north to Waterville. Moderate rain the whole way up. Plus falling off the rock walls beside 44 was huge icicles that had formed over the winter. I'm talking 2-3 feet wide. "the rain loosen them up"

Plus rocks was also falling onto the roadway. With water also flowing across the roadway in spots.

9:00 am it was 54 °F and by 11:00 it was 39 °F Then around 3:00 it started to snow. And now we probably have 5" of snow outside.

I would say pretty amazing day weather wise!! :drunk:

Quick update...

Just took measurements. 1.90" of liquid plus additional partially frozen slush inside the liquid. 0.4" of snow/sleet with moderate to heavy snow now falling and windy with the snow blowing horizontally at times. Everything turning white. Temp 32.5 degrees. Everything covered in snow including the streets. The sander just drove by. Accumulations on the streets has me surprised given the mid fifties temps this morning and nearly two inches of rain preceding the snow.

Looks like nearly all of us have been surprised by the wintry precip totals from this rainstorm!
