Central PA...February ends, March begins...

Recommended Posts

I just woke up from a nap and it is really snowing hard here with about an inch on the ground. The winds blowing pretty good too so the visibility is very low and everything is just plastered on the northeast facing side. Classic March snowstorm stuff.

haha same here, took a nap. And wow, snowing hard.

Just got back from a drive. Front St in HBG is partially flooded out and Creekview Rd behind Wegmans is very close to closing because the creek IMO.

Lots and lots of rain, the Susky is really moving. It will WMD up close to minor flood stages in Harrisburg Wednesday I'd bet.

Glad you guys north are seeing snow! Down to a chilly 39.3 now.

Starting to really think the ice is being underplayed up here north of Scranton in the higher elevations.

Sleet and moderate freezing frain with a temperature near 30. Ice is already weighing on pine branches and I have icecicles on my deck and outside lights.

Ton of moisture to come and if this doesn't turn to sleet or snow before midnight - we have some problems!:banned:

Just measured, have about 2.5" now. Heavy snow still falling with more of the big fluffy flakes falling currently. I-99 corridor from Altoona to State College just gettin smacked. Have an eye on a potential slot working into southern Bedford on radar.

That just might cut it off here in a few hours unless it fills in - think it will?

It probably will try filling back in a bit as it gets up into Blair and Centre counties, but if it comes up as is it'll probably slow the snowfall in 1-2 hours in the area. What i'm watching is the deform band that is going thru Cambria and Somerset and on down into WV to see if it starts fading east and helps hang the heavy stuff longer, and it looks like it has a good chance of doing so. Even if the snow were to shut off in 2 hours or a bit less, it's snowing so dang hard we're probably going to be on the high end of that advisory as it is with around 4 inches. If we can edge in that extended band we could be talking more like 5-6 inches+ in some spots.

NEPA is in for a messy a-m commute to say the least. It's bad outside now I just slid through two stop signs on my way back from getting my laundry. And LOLZ @ dry slot...there's like 8 hours at least of intense precip coming to NEPA.

Would love to see temps drop a bit...currently 33.1°...but the uppers don't want to budge looking at the RUC.
