Signs of spring

You know, I was thinking to myself while taking that pic, "something about this doesn't completely look like a forsythia, but what other yellow flowering, stick like plant can there be?"

So that makes more sense now, b/c the forsythias shouldnt be so far along with the crocuses only a few inches high now.

yea the forsythias dont get going till april really. In turf, when the forsythia stop blooming and goes to green thats when you put down your pree merge.

I looked around my apartment building this morning to see if I could find any signs of impending spring... other than some slightly greener grass along the south side of the building, not a trace of spring here yet.

LOL slightly greener grass, lmao, I like that one. But yeah thats a good sign of spring.

The only sign. No sign of the bulbs coming up. I'll have to try looking around at one of the warmer locales in downtown some time.

And I do say "slightly greener" because most of the lawn is COMPLETELY brown.

A sign of spring? Gopher/squirrel holes all over my front lawn! There's new ones this weekend!

We've tried using some chemical you water on the lawn, we've tried using smoke flares, etc........what does our resident lawn and turf expert here say I should do?

Cayenne Pepper get a ton of it spread it around your yard and you'll be amazed it will keep squirrels, gophers, deer, cats, dogs, rats, mice, and other rodents out of your yard, customers at my work say its like the best and they use it 3 times a year like 5LBS worth of an application throughout an average 75 by 75 yard. During the spring we can fly through a 50 LB bag of Cayenne pepper in 2 or 3 weeks, and in the fall about a 50 LB bag in 3 to 4 weeks to have winter prep. Just be aware you might sneeze alot but its worth it in the long run.

Hmm....not a bad idea. Thanks Lee.

Very nice.

I plan to clean out my shed this weekend. That's usually my official start.

And, I need a new mower, my LawnBoy lasted 6 years, the engine runs fine, but the frame and body took a beating. Going with a Toro this time.

The Toro I bought in 2005 is still in good shape for me with the annual maintenance. I think I paid $250 for it. The only thing I had to replace was the acceleration cord last summer after it snapped off. But that wasn't too difficult.

Saw a pair of cherry trees blooming already in Philly (Mount Airy) yesterday. Couldn't quite get my phone in camera mode in time and was in too much of a hurry to double back for the picture.

I took the grill out on Thursday and put it up on the patio. Yesterday (and last night) was just full of wx win...loved it.
