Thunder Road
Grilled outside twice this week for the first time since December. Now that's a sign of spring! I don't mind grilling in the cold, but when there's a foot of snow on everything it's more difficult.
Scotty Lightning
I finally did the yardwork and raked up the leaves from last Fall!
chubbs
First spring peeper tonight - much earlier than last year. Also last patch of snow gone.
Bluescat1
Yesterday I finally lost the snow in my yard, there was a spot in the back that had a big drift from 12/26/10 and it is now gone.

Isotherm
The birds are now chirping just before sunrise. Still pretty quiet in CNJ as of this morning. Maybe there's a wall of birds migrating northward right now,
Scotty Lightning
Yesterday after the cold front passed, there must have been over 100 Canada geese that flew north.
wederwarrior
Yesterday I experienced hundreds, maybe a thousand "snow geese" (white with black wing tips)circling a landing spot 200 yards from my house. Amazing amount of noise when they get spooked.

Isotherm
At Villanova: Forsythias here are way ahead of back home, completely bare still when I left 2 days ago.
famartin
I can't believe the forsythias are that far along there. That seems way ahead of normal. Then again, them being next to that building might help a bit.

Yeah being up against the building does help, i already have had to trim the grass up against my house here due to the heat release from the house through the ground. Its almost like a micro-climate sets up to where the sun and warmth from the house and the rain has prompted the growth already.

Isotherm
thats because its not a forsythia i believe that is a witch hazel. You know, I was thinking to myself while taking that pic, "something about this doesn't completely look like a forsythia, but what other yellow flowering, stick like plant can there be?" So that makes more sense now, b/c the forsythias shouldnt be so far along with the crocuses only a few inches high now.
