LongRanger
I think the anemometer standard is 30 above the ground, and at least 10 feet above the top of any "nearby" obstruction (building, trees, etc.). My ancient Heathkit is 30 feet above ground, but has some obstruction within 10 in one direction.

Kmlwx
Weather radio. Our radio stations suck up here. Reason why I got the weather radio. That's interesting. Maybe an NWS met can answer what that terminology is. I've had the Wxradio and scanner on all day and haven't heard that. I can say that the stupid robotic voice does have trouble sometimes and might sound different than it is.

Kmlwx
What kind of sustained winds ground flights? Anyone know? I don't think there's a rule. If gusts are near 60 though it's probably enough to delay flights indefinitely. Some airports have ground stop programs.
MN Transplant
Wife just called from home. Tree down on our street, right into the power line and across the road. MN Transplant
That really sucks Hope its charged up What I'm more irritated with is that I didn't have enough C batteries to put in the Davis console, so it was just running on power. So I guess I lose all of the obs from the time the power went out. Time for a Target run to get those and a cooler to save our frozen stuff.
