Mica Vim Toot
OT...but I got referred to the Caribou, ME NWS office...the real God's Country lol. It would be cool to get interviewed and hired...it's so desolate though. WRONG! The CAR/PQI metroplex (stop laughing) contains 20,000 people. Yes, I said 20,000 people! Heck there are 70,000 people in Aroostook County. Now Aroostook County is larger than CT & RI combined so 70,000 may not be as tight a fit as 4.5 million are in those fewer sq. miles but we aren't desolate! Lemme give you an example- The Vim Toot estate, of which an occasional photo appears on this site, is midway between the two bustling cities of CAR/PQI. 6 miles N & 6 miles S. There is a hospital 6 mi. N of it and a hosp. 6 mi. S of it. There is a mall, should one desire to visit such a thing, 6 mi. S of it. PQI has a Mardens store. I highly recommend shopping there. No frills. Cheap. Cheap. Cheap. There is an airport 6 mi. S of Duchy Vim Toot. Nice restaurants abound in the area. Really. Unique Franco-American culture. No, I don't mean Spaghetti-O's... You can buy a nice home w/acreage for less than 50k. Low property taxes in the nearby towns of Woodland, Mapleton & Perham. Not Caribou though! Woodland/Perham elevations up to 1000' give extra snows. NOT DESOLATE! Plus, we need a MET on this board from up there. Come! Vim Toot!- Baron of the snowy barrens

Ryan
NIce, I like it. I'm in the southern area of the 5-10" which I think is a good call. I think we get 6-7" here. Yeah same... I just spoke to my grandparents in Merrimack & told them I'm thinking 5-7" there
HoarfrostHubb
LOL salt on the wounds. I figured you would do well. Only a loon would have thought 55 for you. Your area is a snow magnet. There is actually a little known town bylaw that does not permit rain between Dec 1 and May
HIPPYVALLEY
LOL salt on the wounds. I figured you would do well. Only a loon would have thought 55 for you. Your area is a snow magnet. Still, even with his elevation I bet he flips to mix before MPM or even me. SN 32.5/31 4" down now. Bigger flakes might be time to fire up the snow blower. DomNH
Looks like some ripping is on the doorstep. And yeah, weatherMA, def. net gain here. This new snow should absorb 33F and rain no problem.

jayyy
I wish it were true but I just don't see it... I could use even 20 miles north of the NAM/GFS but they are showing a pretty climo favored track here across SE MA. no, definitely true. you need to look at pressure change maps to see where the low will be heading (the areas where pressure has fallen ahead of the Surface low pressure) it is CERTAINLY North and west, by a fairly decent amount (i'd say a good 30 miles of any model had).. and its evident by the fact that the Southern Tier of WNY was expected to see the heaviest banding, meanwhile... buffalo metro is getting socked (30-40 mile shift N+W)
powderfreak
For webcams, don't forget the BTV collection of VT cameras http://www.erh.noaa....html/cams.shtml Here was Ludlow a few minutes ago Wow... that's some low vis snow. I'm impressed with how good this snow is right now under very lacking radar returns. If we can break "out of the blues and into the greens" on radar we will do quite well. Liking how the frontogenesis over central NY is evolving this way and you can see the radar strengthen and fill in... I think there's going to be some northern 20 mile wide band from SW to NE that does really well. Its lining up now from BUF-ART-BTV... we'll see where it goes from there. Montpelier VT already down to 1/4 mile visibility and we are definitely under a mile here (maybe close to 1/2 mile) in some very unimpressive radar returns... need the greens to work in here, lol Edit... yep Morrisville-Stowe airport/MVL is down to 1/2 mile. HIPPYVALLEY
Just gorgeous out there. Starting to rip big flakes though. Time to begin snow removal operations. With 4"+ I'll surely end the day with net gain. Can't believe the town has not plowed.
dryslot
I've been up there to CAR and Fort Kent... really not as bad as one might think. You are pretty close to Quebec City, too. Of course, there's nothing for hours until you get there, then all the sudden its like you've finally found the settlement, haha. People are incredibly friendly (like ridiculously friendly) and that's always nice. Life just moves at a slower pace in the North Country though... if you are used to the "go-go-go" of more urban life, it probably won't be for you. They don't even lock there doors up there, Everyones welcome..........

powderfreak
I have become fascinated with the models varying on the track of this low... SPC meso-analysis places 994mb low over SW PA right now with greatest pressure falls heading towards SE NY. Latest RUC (now within 4-6 hours) tracks this thing from near POU to almost north of BOS. Here's the RUC 4-hour prog... I sort of need this to happen in order to get some of that better moisture up this way. That extra 20 miles makes a difference.
