MattdWX
anyone else love the HRRR?....I use it for road weather forecasting for the vermont DOT, it does a really nice job when you know how to use it...it NAILED the convection with that storm with the thundersnow/sleet/hail that came through CNE and NNE 3" of paste, here...I'd take that and run. MattdWX
seems to be doing a nice job....actually I saw a talk at the national AMS conference a few weeks ago saying they are working on how to make the convective algorithms better on it since it was a bit off in the placement of individual cells and whatenot...should be some improvements soon and the RUC is being replaced by the HRRR or some version of it soon too I think it's right. ORH_wxman
Radar still pretty thin over E. NY and E. Pa. We should have a couple hour lull. This was modeled fairly well by the RUC all evening...and even some of the other models this afternoon.
MattdWX
Lucky, I think we snow or mix here for several hours, maybe a solid paste coating here too before the deluge....I can't wait to drive back to vermont sunday through central, northern NH with all the snow on the ground! I also think tomorrow nights stuff is being underplayed a bit...not gonna be a lot of snow but def. a big freeze up and bad driving early saturday 34.1\30....solidly accumulating on pre existing pack....starting to adhere to windshield and driveway.... Do you think precip rates will be heavy enough to wet bulb areas from you N & W for a good thump before a change over?
ORH_wxman
Do you think precip rates will be heavy enough to wet bulb areas from you N & W for a good thump before a change over? I don't see a reason why not. Its cold enough right now to snow. The question is how quickly the mid-level warmth penetrates north. I wish the Euro had been a little cooler like every other piece of guidance.
