Feb. 23-25th Winter Storm Part 2

Chicago Storm

GFS just a steaming pile and was still showing me getting 1-2" at 12z while the euro continued its cutting back on the north side of the system from last night to basically nothing at 12z. Euro might have been to far north but even the GFS caved to it almost after it was lost south and east for days on end. Sounds like all systems go down in LAF with rain changing to a heavy plastering as we thought  Good luck to all in the systems path.. What a almost perfect share the wealth winter - love it.

Well I think we avoided the rain start here, spitting flakes right now. Main show for us though entering western IL at the moment. We're hoping for the best here in central Indiana. :snowman:

Sometimes they just miss...

I think the majority of the snow will stay south of 94.2-3", My area north of 59 1" or less

Well the only model that shows such a scenario would be the NAM, though it shows 4-7" south of 94 not 2-3". If its a shutout at DTW you are seeing something no model is ;) Still feel pretty good for mby

I thought they got rid of heavy snow warnings? Think that link needs to be updated but the WSW criteria is the same. As far as this system is concerned, with the 5-6 decent systems we have had this year dry air really wasn't much of a problem. They have all been pretty cold systems too with very little rain. I have noticed over the years that these wetter warmer systems have a harder time of overcoming dry air to the north more than the colder systems. I thought it would be the other way around.

They basically incorperated the "old" Heavy Snow Warning criteria into the Winter Storm Warning criteria to help eliminate confusion.

I don't think it will be a miss....I haven't been on here or looking at data long as I have been reading training material for my new job....but just quick glancing at the data for our area I can see something like 2.4 at PTK...3.5 at Troy....4.2 at metro 5.1 SE part of Wayne County to about 6.0 at Temperance.

True. Weve been so spoiled recently that a 4" snowstorm now qualifies as nothing . Seriously I* love snow, and we have been getting snowed on like crazy this month, so im ok with missing the heaviest snow to my south, but will be furious if its a shutout (which i give a 0.1% chance of happening)

My thinking is 6-8" over far southern Lenawee and Monroe; 3-5 inches elsewhere in those counties; with an inch or two from AA to Detroit metro and northern burbs.

They deserve it as the have been fooked a time or two....

See *some* of their seasonal totals vs here and take into account seasonal snowfall averages. However some have been screwed with the bigger storm though and thus have nickled their way to those totals.

3 technically. Cromartie while not being with us anymore, is the mayor.

Wonder what he has been up to?

Oh and good luck tonight. It *should* be the 6+ event you guys have been waiting for. :weight_lift:

They are like the tampa bay rays of baseball. After 10-15 years of first round picks, they are bound to be in the playoffs eventually. I would gladly give back the 2-3 inches I got last night, if i knew that system was going to suppress this thing so much.

Yeah no complaints here on the season. A top 10'er is just fine. Alas, you are correct...a 6"+ all snow storm would be nice to top off this season here. I guess we have as good of a chance as any with this current system. Thanks for the well wishes. Fingers crossed...

Cromartie, who knows? He may be here under a new username for all we know. :devilsmiley:

I cant believe how we get such a perfect storm, and fairly strong, but there is always something that goes wrong..either it's the dry air, or to much warm air pulled into the storm.. lol but I''m fairly happy with what we've got thus far, not going to complain. I has been a pretty decent winter.

Well Ill give you the poor local weather guys have taken a beating this winter, but the bolded works out both ways. Partly Sunny turned into 4-6" of snow on Feb 5th, and 1-3" of snow turned into 10-11" of snow just the other day, Feb 25th.
