This winter on a whole to me has been tropical.. Couple cold days and nights here and there but on the whole quite meh in the cold department.. Hell, I don't think my furnace has kicked in more than 10 times or so in the last month with it set at 58 degrees tops.

Big snow storm to hit somewhere yet from MKE south and east.. I wouldn't mind a day of 70's to ice fish to close the season.. That would suck though as I think after the torch its back to normal or below temps for the rest of spring.. Miserable spring if you live in tropical saukville.. upper 40's in april and part of may while daddydongs tomato plants are 3 feet high already. No severe weather to be found in WI for a long time especially in the east.

58!? BRRRRRRRR You are a cold, hardy soul for sure. Definitely belong in the snowbelt of the UP! Winter ended up being 20th coldest on record at DTW, but a lack of real arctic days (lowest temp -5F) or temp swings never made it too uncomfortable thus a "tropic" feel for those who like long cold winters. For me, while seeing above normal snow isnt a shock, a complete LACK of wild temperature swings, not to mention being a top 10 snowcover winter, are the LAST two things Id expect in a strong Nina.

Stebo-

Don't make me break this out:

Use to drop the temp down at our old place down a little when we were at work/school.

That cant be good for your pipes. Seeing as its 45 at the thermostat, I can imagine its probably near or below freezing at the floor.

You're quite the frigidaire. But you've also lost your mind if you think this past winter was tropical. Seasonably cold, but definitely not tropical. Speaking off which, how'd Trop..er cromartie's winter forecast of a 1998-99 repeat work out for him? I guess even red taggers whiff every now and then...

58 is comfy to me..well until you get out of the bathroom after a shower and your pecker crawls inside you..in a minute or two of dancing around and getting dressed quick its all good.

I really have no use for arctic air though unless its going for a record so the last two winters have been pretty nice and living by the lake I'm saved from radiating at night much also unlike a lot of folks here.. In a dream world I'd love a high of about 25-28 from december 1st through about March 10th and then the temps can do what they want.

I had one of the coldest outlooks but heck even i was a tad too warm. Yes i am pretty sure the warmer se for the rest of this month still wouldn't save me. Thus the assumption.

Yeah I was too warm down south, and too cold in the Northwest, beyond that not too bad, certainly not like 1998-1999.

I mentioned the possible colder outcome in the east and the warmer PAC NW despite what i went with but still the se still exceeded my expectations a little more then what i had considered possible. Blocking FTL..

Seasonably cold is tropical and perfect to me. lots of low and mid to upper 20's dominated this winter here.. Tons of 30's mixed in along with with a couple torches and meh arctic outbreaks for a few days.. Nobody (not saying anybody here is) should be complaining about being to cold of a winter and can't wait for spring down in most of our parts. Its been bare ground for a lot of folks for weeks now. Nothing about this winter has been harsh and more tropical if you're not a ***** like 90% of the public.

You did well IMO. Kudos. My first attempt at an outlook went up in flames, but live and learn.

Didn't say it was harsh for me personally, actually it was quite lovely. But yes even if this winter was +2º overall, the general public would consider it harsh here in the true tropics of the Midwest. As for posters here who complain about cold and snow, and root for nothing but warm and sunny...I'm not even sure why they join a weather board. They'd probably be better off on home and garden board run by housewives...alas, that's probably a better discussion for another time.

I never wish for warm and mild in dec, jan, or feb, but this time of the year I do enjoy the wild swings in weather we can have here in the la crosse area.

As it should be. I mean we have the luxury of having four distinct seasons and the resulting weather is and can be exciting in all four. And really that's the main reason we're all here, right? Some (not you) I guess would rather just be here to complain about actual weather happening, whether it be snow, cold, rain, cloudy, windy, etc ect, which is really confusing to me being we're on a board dedicated to weather.

I don't mind weather swings in the spring summer, and fall, but warm days in Dec-Mar are verboten.

Winter is for snow, and cold, not 40's, 50's and rain. I have never been able to figure out, especially around here among people that were born and raised in this area why

they feel the need to complain every time snowflakes start falling. I am not a fan of heat and humidity, but I don't complain about it as much as some people complain about

cold and snow.

When you live in an area your entire life, you learn to take the weather in stride.
