CarbondaleWX
WPSD just reported that. Lots of power outages being report. I'm jealous you are in a tower during these storms. Must be awesome to watch! Not really. Glad I stayed though. Wasn't even that bad of a storm though.
ukrocks
Not really. Glad I stayed though. Wasn't even that bad of a storm though. Eh, I love extreme weather. Part of the reason I'm pulling an all nighter. the other is a test around 9:30 this morning. Starting to see warning on the cells on the MO/AR line. Tornado watch have been issued for places for east including. a lot of Kentucky and Tennessee.
CarbondaleWX
Yeah it was fun to track but I anticipated way more than what we got I guess. This is really the first thunderstorm we've had here since I've been down here and I've never rode out a potential tornado in a 17 story building but hopefully we get some more bad storms as spring comes. B-Rent
The damage report out there sounds suspicious. I can verify its real. Some damage had TOR indications. Also had trees topped about 25' up. 30' travel trailer thrown 100yds also. I spent some time in the closet on storm 2. 120mph velocity went overhead. No damage here. kwt
Yeah sounds like whilst it weren't as bad as it could have been if the cap had given way closer to the highest risdk zone, still is quite an impressive event for the time of year! ukrocks
Defin one of the bigger moderate risk busts around here in some time. We had a trailer with the roof blown off here in my county. Nobody was in the structure at the time - lot of trees down just a few miles north of me. Overall the moderate risk has had little in the way of reports. Of course as a forecaster you hope your severe weather forecast is a bust - but then on the other hand, as a forecaster, you don't want to be wrong. So - one is always torn! But - in the end - a bust is always better I guess - except the public might not tend to believe you as much next time a big event is forecast. This was a high profile - STRONGLY worded event. Sounds like areas in southwest Indiana may have significant damage - also near St Louis Northern Kentucky now reporting quite a bit of damage, as well. I liked what Jim Rasor said earlier this evening and that was, look at this as an event to prepare us for the spring. We will likely see worse events than this one as this is a Nina. ukrocks
yep long road ahead! Indeed, storms seem to be entering the area every 3-4 days. A very active pattern but a fun one!
LizardMafia
Ended up with 2.56" of rain since last evening.. Amazing how quickly a couple of inches of snow can melt in a matter of a few hours. Only real thing of note at my place was after the first round of storms moved through was the thick fog that developed. Then came along the next line of storms around 11pm, pretty cool to see lightning while being fogged in.

Only real thing of note at my place was after the first round of storms moved through was the thick fog that developed. Then came along the next line of storms around 11pm, pretty cool to see lightning while being fogged in. 2.94" of rain the last thirty hours in my tippy bucket. The storm total radar estimates shows that we were trained pretty good with this event. Two severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado watch with the sirens waking me up at 3:30a.m. made this interesting and much better than that ugly white stuff falling from the sky. janetjanet998
Interesting event with the most serious damage almost all outside the moderate risk I honestly thought this would be huge, glad i was wrong..not much in the MOD risk area, Looks like the waves of severe weather never materialized
