ukrocks
Many folks here in the PAH region are now starting to downplay it. The mets though are not. I just hope people realize we still have a monster of a storm coming in 3-6 hours.
Macintosh
Extremely dangerous storm in the St Louis area - not a good situation - anyone with friends there should alert them Beau, looks to me like a strong wind threat primarily. Agree? I think, however, it could be over a VERY large area, perhaps 60+ MPH.

I just hope people realize we still have a monster of a storm coming in 3-6 hours. Something's a-comin for sure. Got near 70F here in SEMO with about 65F dewpoints. CLEAR sky, I can even see Orion's Belt. But a stiff south wind. It's just going to be later in the night, which is what SPC has been advertising for days. Ozarkwx
Several circulations on the AR/OK border...this is the show... Got a couple of SVR polygons pointing at me as the line bears down on NW AR. Took all day to get some convection in the AR moderate risk area. Was that earth shaking a result of a thunder clap or something else? Something else: A light earthquake occurred at 11:00:50 PM (CST) on Sunday, February 27, 2011 . The magnitude 4.7 event occurred 6 km (3 miles) NE (50 degrees) of Greenbrier, AR . The hypocentral depth is 8 km ( 5 miles).

SmokeEater
Listening to the scanner feeds around St Louis, too many poles being knocked down to count. Sounds like tornadic damage around the Washington Airport, Highway 47, wherever that is. Also, live webcam feed from St Louis, tornado sirens just started. http://www.earthcam.com/usa/missouri/stlouis/kiener/
ICEHOCEY77
Is that cell that's tornado warned in the middle of MO the same cell that produced the tornado in OK/KS? I want to say it is, but not sure if my brain is slipping.....

Macintosh
Not related to the storms, but something interesting, a 4.7 earthquake just shook Little Rock Actually, there is some evidence to suggest that severe weather can be related to seismic activity. I have seen several odd reports of "seismic events" occuring during hurricanes, and I have seen some research here and there that suspects a link. My Weather Today
Actually, there is some evidence to suggest that severe weather can be related to seismic activity. I have seen several odd reports of "seismic events" occuring during hurricanes, and I have seen some research here and there that suspects a link. If you listen to the radio archive link FolsomWx posted on the main forum from Louisville, KY during the SuperOutbreak of 1974, you will hear the radio host elude to reports of 'trimmers' from callers while one of the tornadoes was moving through the city.
