thewxmann
An update on the threat for areas further east... S/w axis currently analyzed over ctrl OK down to N-Ctrl TX. This is responsible for congested CU down in TX and the supercells in nrn OK and srn KS where mid-level temps are cooler. 700mb temps are ridiculously high right now over the MDT risk area. These will come crashing down only after 06Z when mid-level cooling begins in earnest due to the arrival of the main wave. Before then, the initial s/w may only be able to initiate surface-based storms (around 02-03Z) near and north of the MO Bootheel. The Lower OH Valley stands a chance of significant tornadoes between 03Z and 08Z as low-level cyclogenesis locally backs winds and enhances the LLJ. The low-level and boundary layer warm advection allows CAPE to ramp up significantly during this time as well. Further south, things will remain quiet during this time in the subsidence behind the initial s/w. Arrival of dynamic forcing and mid-level cooling will allow initiation to finally occur around 09Z around ctrl AR, which is in agreement with the HRRR.
