Henry lol To quote the infamous blizzard22.............Pro Site Cancel

Good luck to JB. I have followed your forecast and banter for 30 of my 46 years and look forward to continuing to do so be it through twitter or tv.

My hunch.......in no particular order ....Fox.......Fox........Fox..........

My second guess would be

Fox.

I would assume a large % of pro subscribers will quit now. I'll wait a couple weeks just to make sure this isn't all part of some contract negotiation and then all of a sudden he shows up again. If not...it's hasta la vista. LOL Hey that $14.95 a month adds up per annum or I could blow it on satellite radio or something.

It was a shocking development because I always got the sense he was a very big company man there. He certainly spoke about Joel Myers, et. al. enough and the history of the company.

If I was a betting man, my money would be on a dispute over his near obsession now with disputing global warming. If they tried to muzzle him on that - I get the sense he feels so passionately about it that he probably would quit. I tend to agree with him on that issue, but I was not thrilled that so much of the column was about climate change stuff.

I pay less than that because I was about the first client of the pro site and got a deal. And JB called me at work once, abiut six years ago. And about eight years ago, JB had a meet up in Houston. The guy seriously hits the gym, but I don't think he is even 5'8".

And I like the 6 hour Euro data, even if I don't live in a snowy subforum and do Euro PBP like Tombo. Besides, while the raw numbers go up just after 12 am/pm CST, the graphs don't update until almost 2am/pm, so I was never really competition for Tombo.

Maybe I'll make a Euro forecast skew-T for LIT for Thursday's severe outbreak and draw a verbal picture of it. Or not.

Definitely not that, he got us plenty of press for his stance on Climate Change

That doesn't seem likely. NWS has hired back former NWS senior people that went TWC, like Koscin and Lyons, but I don't see them hiring someone who has never worked NWS/NOAA

Don't be so surprised. A lot of people from Accuwx end up working at the NWS. Only thing is, AFAIK, JB does not have a Masters. With no Masters, you're probably not getting into NHC.

I tend to agree with the climate change stuff, but he spent a lot less time the last couple of years talking teleconnections and the such.

Wherever he lands, he should have a separate climate change discussion, and then back to the discussion where he discusses Stokols and Norm MacDonald and whoever his instrumentation professor was at PSU and his memories of storms in Atlantic City and past season analogs and the Joel Meyers rubber band theory and the typhoon recurve rule and all the good stuff.

pretty surprising stuff.

80% of the reason I visited accuwxpro site was to read his columns watch his vids. This winter he had one of his worst forecasting winters I ever recall in my 10 years of following him, (pretty much on every level of forecasting from storms to longrange). If you understood his biases, and knew how to read between the lines of his hype, he had some good information. He also did an excellent job of explaining pattern recognition and teleconnections. Seems like a good guy, family man, etc. I'm sure he's already got something in the works and as others have said, it's most likely a FOX gig. One things for sure, he's gonna need to get that grill fixed if he's gonna have a carreer on nat'l tv.

good luck JB

btw, as far as HM taking over or picking up some of JB's slack....what a disaster. Henry is gonna be a lost puppy in winter wx forecasting without JB.

Total speculation on my part, but here is a theory.

One of their larger (probably energy) clients reached out to him to work for them exclusively. He informed Accu-WX late last week or possibly Monday morning and they told him to clean out and get out. I suspect he has a no compete for a few months but that does not mean the large company cant take care of him while they wait. I cant imagine he would not have wanted to say a formal farewell, his dramatic side would have wanted that, but I bet they were so pissed they just told him to go. I can see some work on Fox similar to what he has done in the past but not as a fulltime job. A daily on camera met is not his thing. I suspect we will find out soon.

The thing with a fox gig is that he wont have daily exposure-sure they might trot him out for severe weather periods, but to me, I think he liked the daily blog where he could basically tell a story about the upcoming pattern. I'd be more willing to bet he'll simply have his own website

A couple of things I should point out:

1. if Joe gave his notice, it is common for employers to escort them off site. This is done to protect both the <former> employee and the company. Think about it.

2. JB is a media darling, the NWS may take him to be the public face the NHC. this is one time where name recognition works out for him.

3. bottom line is that he will have no issues finding a gig.

I highly doubt he goes to the NWS.
